Traditionally a strong performer in the fall and holiday TV season, Food Network is sizzling this summer, too.
From Memorial Day on May 27 through July 20, Food Network content has drawn more than 50.6 million total viewers across the linear TV channel, as well as Warner Bros. Discovery-owned streamers Max and Discovery+.
The boost in viewership coincides with the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes in Hollywood, work stoppages that affect scripted programming, which is not Food Network’s bread and butter.
Looking at linear alone, Food Network is among the Top 5 non-news/sports cable networks across total day ratings for adults aged 25-54 and women ages 25-54, behind Nick at Nite, TNT, USA Network and TBS.
Per Nielsen’s Live + 3 Day data, Food Network is currently averaging 113,000 viewers in the 25-54 demo. Additionally, Food Network has seen average weekly time spent viewing during primetime rise 4% year over year among the...

Halloween is still a couple weeks away, but Food Network is already decking its halls with holiday content. This year, the cable channel is serving up more seasonal programming than ever, growing its themed episodes by 40% compared to 2018’s slate, and it kicked things off at the end of last month with some spooktacular specials.
The reason behind the big push into making the season brighter with more Halloween, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas and New Year’s Eve offerings is how much the shows lit up last year’s Nielsen data for Food Network, which scored its highest-rated fourth quarter since 2015 (+9% vs. prior year), largely driven by the holiday-programming lineup.
“Looking at last year’s ratings and what we had done in 2017, we definitely, in both years — and never before as aggressively as this year — have taken a big step up in the volume of content,” Food Network president Courtney White told TheWrap.

Because we invite them into our homes, TV series regulars have a way of feeling like friends or even family. That is certainly true of the gang from “One Day at a Time,” the Norman Lear-created comedy series that aired on CBS from 1975 to 1984. Bonnie Franklin, who played a divorced mom and career woman who was raising her two daughters solo, and Mackenzie Phillips, who was the defiant older teen Julie, were highly relatable. But it was Valerie Bertinelli, as quick-with-a-quip little sis Barbara, who became America’s sitcom sweetheart.
She would win two Golden Globes for as Best TV Supporting Actress for her role as Barbara Cooper. But even though the actress would go on to headline a series of popular made-for-tv movies in the ’80s and ’90s with such attention-grabbing titles as “The Princess and the Cabbie” and “The Seduction of Gina” before becoming a heavenly creature...
