Bette Midler might have been channel surfing Saturday when she tweeted out a query: “Is it too late for me to become a Real Housewife of Beverly Hills? I’ve never watched it, but I am in the mood to talk some s–t. And to get paid for it? A dream!”
The legendary entertainer even got the cosign from “Real Housewives” network Bravo and producer Andy Cohen.
“Talk about a glorious crossover,” the official @BravoTV X account tweeted.
“It’s time!” Cohen added.
Responding to Cohen with a retweet, Midler shared what she thinks her “Housewives” tagline would be: “I think my tagline should be, ‘Those Beaches don’t know what’s about to hit ’em!!'”

"It was never about the plays, it was about being with the people who 'get' you." Netflix has revealed an official trailer for a raunchy New York City romantic comedy film called Players, the latest from filmmaker Trish Sie. This is indeed about the "player" culture of super hot hookups and one-night-stands, where a woman helps guys with "plays" until he realizes he wants more than just one-night-stands. Of course, this is the same story they've been telling for decades. New York sportswriter Mack has spent years devising successful hook-up "plays" with her friends, but when she unexpectedly falls for one of her high society targets, she must learn what it takes to go from simply scoring to "playing for keeps." What a pitch. Gina Rodriguez stars as Mack, along with Damon Wayans Jr., Joel Courtney, Augustus Prew, Liza Koshy, Ego Nwodim, Marin Hinkle, and Tom Ellis. This is the...

It’s been 30 years since Winifred Sanderson and her sisters put a spell on fans, and “Hocus Pocus” remains a Halloween classic. So, what are the witchy women up to these days? What about the kids they tormented? Well, at least when it comes to the latter, they aren’t kids anymore.
In fact, you can catch most of them at fan conventions across the country when they aren’t on-screen. Vinessa Shaw, Omri Katz, Thora Birch and Jason Marsden have reunited more than a few times at events in the last few years, as “Hocus Pocus” found its cult following later in its life cycle.
As for the Sanderson sisters, well, they’re obviously still hard at work in Hollywood too. In fact, they just reunited last year for “Hocus Pocus 2” on Disney+.
You can see what the ‘Hocus Pocus” cast looks like now in the photos below.

So they combine the two talents and make a plan to visit 50 bars with 50 cakes all over LA-La Land. What they didn’t expect is that Corinne would start to have headaches, that turns out to be cancer. Once again, we find ourselves faced with another film centered around a protagonist battling cancer, whose impending mortality serves as a catalyst for their best friend’s aspirations and ambitions. Sitting in Bars With Cake falls short of expectations, leaving viewers with dry eyes, even though it’s based on a true story. In fact, even if you steer clear of spoilers, just reading a brief synopsis of the film would pretty much give you the entire plot. However, it’s crucial to emphasize that this critique is not meant to undermine the real-life friendship and experiences of Audrey Shulman and Chrissy Osmulski, whose remarkable bond inspired the film. Their innovative and somewhat whimsical concept of cake-barring originated from their shared love of sweet treats.
In their twenties, residing in the bustling city of Los Angeles, Audrey faced challenges in meeting and connecting with guys. On a pivotal day, during Chrissy’s birthday celebration,...

Yara Shahidi and Odessa A’Zion play best friends dealing with cakes and crisis in a well-acted yet often underbaked weepie
Ten years ago, the screenwriter Audrey Shulman whipped up a quirky plan to find a boyfriend in LA: an amateur dessert enthusiast, she would bake one cake a week – 50 in total – and offer them to patrons at bars around the city. The practice, which she called cakebarring, became an ever-surprising tour of joie de vive, even after Shulman’s best friend, roommate and cakebarring partner Chrissy was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer.
That’s the explicit basis, clear from the trailer and the source material, for Amazon’s Sitting in Bars with Cake, starring Yara Shahidi as Audrey’s counterpart Jane, a shy and hyper-organized mailroom assistant who bakes during her Lsat study breaks, and Odessa A’Zion as her childhood best friend turned LA roommate Corinne. This is a tale with a set mold,...

Sitting in Bars With Cake is a slice-of-life movie about two best friends, who happen to love cake. In black and white, the movie sounds interesting enough, but it fails to impress, even with its fancy and current cast. Even with its melancholic subject matter, the film fails to make an emotional impact. The cakes get stuck in the back seat, and something about it feels underdeveloped. The movie is based on a book by the same name, authored by Audrey Shulman, and is dedicated to her best friend. The book details the experimental cake flavors and recipes of the 50 cakes the author made and took to bars and has some bizarre flavors, which are also covered in the film. Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough to make a lasting impression either, but here’s how the movie expands on the concept of the book.

Sitting in Bars With Cake takes inspiration from the real-life story of author and baker Audrey Shulman, who, on one fine day in 2013, decided to take cakes to bars in hopes of finding a ‘sweet’ boyfriend. In theory, Sitting in Bars With Cake sounds right up my alley. Not only do I love a good slice-of-life film, but I also love me some cake, especially if it means crying about a friendship on the screen. I will admit, it’s not the most riveting concept, but it’s got some intrigue to it anyway. I went into this movie expecting (and hoping) to bawl my eyes out, but shockingly enough, barring a lump in my throat on some occasions, there was no real crying. Along with a superstar director, Trish-Sie, the movie stars performers like Yara Shahidi and Odessa A’zion in pivotal roles.

"I just wanna have fun, and I want you to have fun." Amazon's Prime Video has revealed an official trailer for a romantic comedy / friendship dramedy called Sitting in Bars with Cake, made by Pitch Perfect 3 director Trish Sie. This will be launching on Prime Video in September, skipping theaters. Inspired by a true story, it's based on the book called "Sitting in Bars with Cake: Lessons and Recipes from One Year of Trying to Bake My Way to a Boyfriend". The author, Audrey Shulman, also wrote the screenplay for the film. Sitting in Bars with Cake recounts her year spent baking, bar-hopping, and offering up slices of cake to men in the hope of finding a boyfriend - which they dub "cakebarring". In the film, Yara Shahidi stars as Jane, the shy baker main character, and Odessa A’zion co-stars as her best friend who takes her out on the town.

For a dose of hope in hard times, romcoms still do the trick. Just don’t expect to see a remake of Pretty Woman any time soon
Thirty-six new romcoms are coming out this year on film and streamed TV. That’s three a month! There’s a boxing romcom, a tennis romcom, one set in Taipei, one on a Croatian island, one in Vietnam and one with a fortune teller. There’s one in the back of a Berlin cab, and a gay romcom about the son of the US president and a “British Prince Henry”.
There’s a meet-the-parents story where it turns out the sets of parents, well, knew each other already. There’s one where the wedding party is taken hostage by gunmen; one where our heroine finds herself mysteriously attracted to her first love’s new wife. An interactive one where we get to make...
