Joe Biden and Donald Trump will face off in two debates ahead of this year’s presidential election. The first will air live on CNN on June 27, and the second will be hosted by ABC on Sept. 10.
Earlier in the morning, Biden posted a video on X prodding Trump to debate him. In it, Biden made fun of Trump’s ongoing criminal trial for hush money payments, referencing how Trump’s trial skips meeting on Wednesday.
“Donald Trump lost two debates to me in 2020. Since then, he hasn’t shown up for a debate,” Biden said. “Now, he’s acting like he wants to debate me again. Well, make my day, pal. I’ll even do it twice. So let’s pick the dates, Donald. I heard you’re free on Wednesdays.”

Joseph Quinn is currently smashing it in Hollywood. After making a name for himself primarily on television, his upcoming movie roles include this year’s A Quiet Place: Day One and Gladiator 2.
As of Valentine’s Day this year, when the film’s whole cast was announced, he’s also been confirmed as playing Johnny Storm, Aka the Human Torch, in Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four, which is due for release in July 2025.
It’s an interesting casting, but there’s no doubt the English actor can pull it off. Here are five of Joseph Quinn’s past roles that prove he’ll make a superb Johnny Storm for the MCU’s Fantastic Four.

Dickensian is a 20-part British drama series aired on the BBC in 2015 and 2016. The series unites characters from several Charles Dickens novels in a Victorian London neighborhood.

"You have become somewhat of a distraction in the office..." Freestyle Digital Media / Red Blazer Prods. has unveiled an official trailer for a British indie comedy titled Makeup, marking the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Hugo Andre. Not to be confused with the 2019 thriller Make Up (which we also recommend). This new film has received numerous accolades including Winner of "Best Film" at Paris International Film Awards (2021) and "Best Young Director" at Lonely Wolf Film Festival (2021) where it first premiered a few years ago. It's finally set for a VOD release this summer if anyone is curious. An aspiring male burlesque dancer and an introverted French food critic begin their rigid journey toward compatibility... Makeup stars Hugo Andre and Will Masheter, along with Kent Goldfinch, Zak Watson Smith, Adam Starkey, and Lloyd Mundell. Not an impressive trailer, odd editing choices, but the film looks like it could be good. // Continue...

It turned out that “Everything Everywhere All at Once” was pretty much everything to every Oscar voter. Of its 11 nominations, it won seven, including the big one: Best Picture. The last Best Picture winner to win that many statuettes was “Gravity” in 2014.
“Eeaao” started off strong when Ke Huy Quan won Best Supporting Actor. Then Jamie Lee Curtis nabbed Best Supporting Actress and, later in the evening, the Daniels took home Best Original Screenplay. By the time it won Film Editing, the seemingly unstoppable breakout hit‘s momentum was undeniable. It then went on to triumph in Best Director, Best Actress and finally, Best Picture.
Much of the evening went according to Steve Pond‘s predictions in his final analysis of the race. “Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio” won Best Animated Feature, the first award of the night, and “Navalny” won Best Documentary. During his acceptance speech, “Navalny” director Daniel Roher...

Two of the five Oscar nominees for Best Makeup and Hairstyling — “The Batman” and “Elvis” — contend in three categories apiece at the guild awards on Feb. 11. Another contender, “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” has a pair of bids while “The Whale” has a single nomination. The fifth Oscar contender, “All Quiet on the Western Front,” was snubbed by the Makeup Artists & Hair Stylists Guild Awards.
Last year marked the first time in the nine-year history of these guild awards that the eventual Oscar winner was shut out here first. “The Eyes of Tammy Faye” lost both period/character races (hairstyling to “Being the Ricardos” and makeup to Oscar rival “Cruella”) plus the special effects category to another Oscar contender, “Coming 2 America.” The other two Oscar nominees — “House of Gucci” and “Dune” — were also overlooked by the guild despite three and two bids respectively.

Disney is calling their five-time Oscar-nominated Black Panther: Wakanda Forever the most watched Marvel premiere ever on Disney+ on a global basis. Without supplying viewership figures, the company said Monday that the claim is based on hours streamed for the pic over its first five days.
The Ryan Coogler-directed sequel, which has amassed 842.3 million at the global box office, dropped February 1 on Disney+ after an 83-day theatrical window.
Meanwhile, Samba TV, which measures viewership across a panel of 3 million U.S. smart TVs, says the Live+4D household viewership was 2.1 million.
That’s a notable number, tracking 400 ahead of the same frame for Black Adam‘s 1.5M draw on HBO Max, the same as Disney/Marvel Studio’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and just under that of Thor: Love and Thunder (2.2M).

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will never, ever get it entirely "right" on Oscar nomination morning. There will always be baffling misses and outright travesties. Comedies will always get overlooked in favor of weightier dramatic works. The Best Animated Feature bias against anime is, sadly, very real. And if you're a horror fan, there's never a reason to get out of bed at an unreasonable hour to discover that -- shock, gasp -- the year's best fright flicks were once again completely shut out of every category.
The Oscar nominations are always about adjusted expectations. The major Oscar contenders are, like politics, predetermined by campaign spending. Publicists have to trot the hopefuls out for cocktail receptions and Q&As. Typically, you know weeks ahead which films and artists are serious contenders, so if you were hoping that, say, Nicolas Cage was going to come flying off the...

After two years of pandemic delays, the 2022 – 2023 Oscar season is coming into focus as a return to normal. This year’s Oscars will air live on ABC from the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood on Sunday, March 12, 2023, two weeks earlier than last year’s delayed Oscars and a month later than the pre-covid 2020 ceremony.
The Academy is staying away from Super Bowl Lvii on February 12, 2023, while leaving plenty of time for Oscar-show planning after the nominations announcement on January 24, 2023. New Academy CEO Bill Kramer is already getting started with early ideas for the show.
With theaters open, the Academy has returned to both the usual 12-month calendar year and six-city theater eligibility requirements. One thing we still don’t know about the upcoming awards lineup: whether January’s Golden Globes telecast will return to NBC, which canceled the 2022 awards show to give the Hollywood Foreign Press Association time to institute long overdue reforms.

Avril Lavigne is celebrating the 20th anniversary of her debut album, Let Go, with a new deluxe edition — out today — featuring six bonus tracks.
One of the additions to the album is Lavigne’s newly recorded version of “Breakaway,” a song she originally wrote for Let Go, but ultimately ditched (she gave the song to Kelly Clarkson, whose version became a hit in 2004). For the new version of “Breakaway,” Lavigne restored some of the original lyrics, which reference her childhood in Canada. (A lyric video for “Breakaway’ is available on Facebook.

As all of us are painfully aware, cinemas have been one of the many casualties of the pandemic lock down. Although it goes without saying that me not being able to go to the cinema is the very definition of a First world problem compared to the loss of income, social contact, health and life that so many have suffered this year, it is still worth saying that it has been difficult to not be able to enjoy films on the big screen. It is of course also important to note that cinemas and theatres are businesses like any other and so the lock down has resulted in loss of income and loss of jobs for many within those industries too.

Undoubtedly one of the British films of the year, it was our pleasure to have the opportunity to speak to the leading star, as we chatted on Zoom with Make Up’s Molly Windsor.
We discuss with the talented young actress (second time of asking – we had internet issues that scampered plans earlier in the day) the joys in tackling such a complex, nuanced role, and whether characters like this come around very often. She comments on her memorable experience shooting, and what it was like to be on the Cornish coast. She also talks about collaborating with director Claire Oakley, and finally on her rise through the industry, and why she feels there’s been such an influx of creative talent to have come out of the Midlands.

This striking, lo-fi, key art for Claire Oakley's debut feature, Make Up, does unlikely things with colour. Mixing red and green is a one-way ticket to evoking Christmas, but here, it is cosmic and ethereal, like the stargate sequence of 2001: A Space Odyssey. A British body-horror psychodrama in the guise of a lesbian romance (according to Sight & Sound), the Quad-style poster certainly says, "something's up." Mixing the lead character's form with the landscape, that is both grassy hill and isolated lake. There is a village down below, and the night-sky is an un-gradient red. And then there is that thin-chunky type set. In general, the skinnier the font, the more 'art-sci-fi' the film....

"It's not about what it looks like, it's how it makes you feel." Artificial Eye in the UK has released an official trailer for an indie psychological drama titled Make Up, marking the feature directorial debut of English filmmaker Claire Oakley. This initially premiered at the London Film Festival last year, and it also played at the Rotterdam, Göteborg, and Glasgow Film Festivals this year. While at a remote holiday park in Cornwall, a young woman is drawn into a mysterious obsession when she suspects her boyfriend has cheated on her. The official synopsis adds: "Transforming her remote coastal setting into an intangible labyrinth of creeping intrigue, Claire Oakley inventively flirts with genre conventions to weave a singular tale of self-acceptance and sexual awakening." I'm intrigued. Molly Windsor stars as Ruth, with a cast including Joseph Quinn, Stefanie Martini, Theo Barklem-Biggs, Lisa Palfrey, and Elodie Wilton. This looks very moody and hauntingly atmospheric,...
