Better than expected and decent Spanish Noir Film about a crime caper and the subsequent violent events
ma-cortes13 April 2021
A hard-edged , taut and realistic thriller about the usual perfect robbery that goes wrong , dealing with a drug dealer called Junior : Enrique Alcides who plans to rob his own boss : Ismael Pritschi to pay a debt. As he agrees with El Rubio : Jorge Bosh who cares his wife affected by cancer and the jobless Tito El Palmera : Unax Ugalde and along with a prostitute : Kira Miro to perform as a lure to seduce the victim .

A suspenseful and intriguing movie in low budget with thrills , chills , brief character studio , chases , twists , turns and sudden bursts of violence . A nice Spanish thriller with a cluster of deeply etching performances from a tight-knit group of Spain's best character roles , concentrating on the intricate plotting of a money robbery , its execution and subsequent undoing of the thieves , as well as the sad consequences . A competent piece of filmmaking done in thrilling and surprising style , resulting in an unespected finale . The film follows the wake of American classic film as "The Killing" 1958 by Stanley Kubrick and "The jungle of Asphalt" 1950 by John Huston , both of them remain models of its kind , including pessimism , fatalism and with plenty of avaricious and unfortunate characters who undertake crimes with fateful results . First -rate role for star Alex Ugalde , as he is splendid with his portrait of a down-trodden unemployed man who attempts to rent a bar but he hasn't money , while Kira Miro plays a tarnished prostitute serving as a decoy while falls for him, both of whom are rewarded with performances to match . Along with a pretty good support cast , such as : Jorge Bosch , Ismael Pritschi , Pep Jove, Enrique Alcides , among others .

It displays a colorful and evocative cinematography by Juan Antonio Castaño, shot on location in Playa de las Canteras, El Puerto de la Luz, la Isleta , Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Puerto de Mogan, Roque Nublo, Tufia , Gran Canaria , Canary Islands . The motion picture was compellingly directed by Elio Quiroga who also wrote the script along with the author of the interesting novel , Alexis Ravelo . Quiroga was born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria , Canary Islands , where he often shoots his pictures . He is a good writer, producer and director , as he wrote "Ausentes" , a horror film directed by Daniel Calparsoro and being especially known for "Fotos" , "Nodo" and his most succesful movie : "La Hora Fría" . Rating : 6.5/10 . Acceptable and atractive thriller that will appeal to Spanish cinema enthusiasts .

A decent thriller

Nothing spectacular, but enough to keep you interested and entertained for an hour & a half. The two leads are quite likeable, which makes you root for them to pull it off, against all odds. You'll forget about this movie a minute after watching it, but if all you're looking for is a way to kill 90 minutes, you could do a lot worse.
