A quite shocking episode.

The penultimate episode delivers on almost all levels, we see an almost totally transformed Charlie undergo all manner of training for her new mission. The direction, camera work, and general feel are all terrific, an engrossing episode that leaves you wanting the sixth part immediately. Great location work once again, this episode looked particularly strong.

What got me most was the direction of Charlie's character, all I kept asking myself, was which way was she going to turn, was she going to stick with her intended path, or stray into a new way of thinking.

It's a very controversial plot, but totally engaging, and thought provoking. 8/10

Charlie has gone deep undercover and met Khalil's younger sister who promptly sent her to a Palestinian boot camp for foreign volunteers. Charlie has to show that she really has the X Factor as she learns hand to hand combat and use weaponry.

Kurtz and Becker are in London playing a waiting game and figuring out any potential targets. Kurtz meets British military intelligence officer Commander Picton (Charles Dance) who is not happy that Mossad is crawling all over London.

In another signature move from La Carre, Picton tells Kurtz a story of an Israeli lad he once interrogated in 1947 and who would not break down. He imagined him to be a little drummer boy for the next battles which included a massacre of a Palestinian village. It was a spiky performance from Dance.

Charlie seems to be playing games with her Israeli handlers and it leads her to a very important meeting.

Among the vivid colours, Park Chan-Wook has a fantasy sequence where Salim bursts into flames.
