The fourth time Eli (Kamel/Cohen) buys a newspaper in Damascus, he pays with a modern Malaysian 10 sen coin.
In the scene at Beirut harbor, besides the sheikh's Peugeot 404, there are at least two big American card being unloaded from the ship. It's impossible that such a small boat could have carried three automobiles in its cargo hold.
Eli has a Dual turntable console with built in amp in his apartment in the early 1960s. The earliest this type of console, either a Dual HS26, or HS28, was made was in 1973, with the HS28 not made until 1976. The turntable chassis itself was a completely different generation from what Dual built in the early 1960s.
In this and other episodes, in the Damascus scenes, a lot of men can be seen wearing fez. Fez were worn in Morocco and, to a lesser extent, Algeria and Tunisia, but never in the Middle East.
Around the 9th minute, where "Beirut Port" is shown, is actually Eminonu in Istanbul, Turkey. At the end of the old video, you can even see a ship named Mugla, which is a city name near the Aegean Sea.
The old footage of Beirut Port is in fact Galata Bridge, Istanbul. In the last shot of the black and white footage, a Turkish ensign can be seen on one of the smaller ships, in the bottom right of the screen as well.
