Good episode.. new face!

This was a good episode! The new forensic scientist Kasie is great. Quirky but in a new and different way. I think she will be a solid addition! Honestly I don't know why ALL the forensic and tech people on all 3 NCIS shows are played as quirky.. but it is what it is. Still NOT the NCIS of Ziva days and prior but a very enjoyable show!

Not that interesting Warning: Spoilers
Too many of those this season, the last few seasons in fact. The dead-but-really-not-dead plot wasn't too imaginative. It worked, sort of, with Tony at the end of season 4, but that was because he was under cover. I say sort of because we all knew Weatherly was coming back for season 5.

And yet another female agent is killed off. I suppose the reason Abby wasn't killed off instead along with Reeves is that she was on the show from the beginning.

NCIS definitely needs a major boost to survive one more year. If Diane Neal is available I would strongly suggest the writers/producers/whoever seriously consider transferring CGIS Special Agent Borin to NCIS as a regular.

Fallout

Warning: Spoilers
Why they didn't end the season on Reeves' death and Abby's exit last week is beyond me. What is more baffling is after a big death last week they mock the concept of dying this week by having a character pretend to have passed to solve a case.

It was not that bad an episode, it was just an odd time to have this one.

And the goofy, Three's Company-esque bit with Gibbs sneaking the guy out of the house while Torres distracted the wife was embarrassing.

Pretty forgettable after all of the drama.

Warning: Spoilers
Now that Abby is gone, I was very surprised to see two more episodes in this season, because "Two steps back" would have been fine, though a great way to end the 15th season. But no, we get "Fallout" instead, which as the title says, focuses on the team reacting to the death of Reeves and Abby leaving, but unfortunately as a mystery it falls quite on its nose.

Let's focus on the good first.

. The directing, acting, action- all of them are wonderful like usual. It was nice to see a Gibbs' friend Phil, who we have never seen before. Some quirky humor's also back and the set up for this mystery wasn't bad either.

But...

. It's sad to say that the murder mystery was quite boring here with predictable twists and turns. Nothing felt compelling, which for a mystery are very hard words.

. Kasie as well seems to be doing Abby 2.0 that feels more annoying than funny. Have nothing against the actress, but that direction they are taking the character seemed weird to me.

Overall, the fallout of this episode is a well deserved 4/10. HK

bad substitute
ivodebacker23 September 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Abby is getting substituted by Kasie, bad choice! I didn't like the character when they first introduced her as Ducky's help. Now she will replace one of the three remaining lead characters from season 1 (and Ducky seems semi-retired this season, only appearing sporadically). I still like the show, but I don't like where they are going with their characters: I like Jimmy as a sidekick, but he's not convincing as the main autopsy doctor, and Kasie, never having worked as a forensic scientist, is supposed to replace the experienced genius Abby? It takes away from the way I looked at the team: a well-oiled machine that always succeeded through team effort, and credibility is lost because of these changes. I'm curious how long the show will survive, only having Gibbs being mad and stoic as always, and an occasional joke between the team members to keep it apart from other shows. Please give us back the magic this show possessed a couple of years ago!

Abby, you are missed...
marcuscoltro23 January 2024
I have missed several episodes when it was on cable, so I was glad to be able to watch them all here in Italy on MickeyMouse's father's channel. It has been a while since PC has been on command on Hollywood, so it was expected to have a non-white character to be replaced once the other one was killed on a previous episode.

So the team went looking for a stereotypical non-white character, with typical affronting looks to replace a loved non-politically-correct-skin-color character. She was pathetically awful as expected, but kept on pkace to see if the audience would absorb her. Apparently they did not...
