A solid episode here, although the Fornell character really bothers me. It is hard to root for him no matter the situation or bad guy they are chasing.

I am glad we are getting a multi-episode arc. We need more of these from all of the NCIS shows moving forward, that is how the franchise can adapt and stay on TV.

A fine sequel to a story far better

Warning: Spoilers
"Burden of proof" is my easily my favorite episode of this season and for a good reason: it had a great story, which I really enjoyed. So one was very looking forward to a sequel worth it. "Keep your friends close" is interesting, though not as good as "Burden of proof".

Let's start with good.

. The story of this one, when it's focused on Gabriel Hicks, it is wonderful. The acting is very good too and action is competently done.

But....

. When the story is not about Gabriel Hicks and about some marine officer getting killed, it's pretty average. Why the focus couldn't have been on Hicks? To be honest, this marine officer case was not needed at all.

. Also, the episode ends on a cliff hanger, which I found lazy and coming from a mile away.

"Keep your friends close" is fine, though NOT a very good sequel.

6/10 HK
