Lethal Soccer Coach would have been better
metfan4126 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Standard Lifetime movie fare. Cameron is a high school star soccer player that moves to a rival school. As she tries out for the team it seems the coach Rhonda will stop at nothing to derail Cameron's happiness. Coach Rhonda even uses her own daughter Hailey in her plot.

Nothing new here, but quite silly the coach can get away with so much without any consequences. Teens live for their phones now, but how unbelievable it is they never once take it out to record a confession or say... the kiss between a teacher and a student. Oh but of course you pull the phone out to record a kiss during a party.

Wouldn't the police have interviewed Paul after being hit by the car??? And what even happened to Paul, did he make it???? The movie never followed up.

Oh I guess the maintenance man found Kimmy locked up in the boiler room too. But by some miraculous way she was shown at the end being rescued off camera in time for the ending.

Typical Lifetime format
aprilsfriendorin1 February 2021
It follows the typical Lifetime movie formula of: evil white blonde woman targets teenage white girl, intense fight scene, teenage white girl wins. Nothing surprising here.

Ludicrous, often unintentionally funny, telly movie
RogerB-P3RV32 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
An earnest Sarah Grey carries a ludicrous, often unintentionally funny, telly movie. She (and handful of cute Canadian actresses playing high-schoolers) is the only reason to stay until the typical Lifetime ending although Christina Cox deserves a shout-out for the casual nastiness she brings to the titular role (aka Lethal Soccer Mom).

One of the better movies
ivegonemod13 September 2018
I used to be a really big fan of TV movies back when they aired on NBC and ABC. Lifetime movies are good, but they are usually missing that vibe I used to like on the older ones. I have long ago given up on the movies being about something that really means anything like in the 1980's and 1990's.

I enjoyed this particular movie because even at 38, I didn't feel like it was just for teenagers. I thought it was exciting and actually something different from what they usually serve up.

Really quite awful

Aired here in Canada as "Lethal Soccer Mom". One of the worst Lifetime movies ever. The acting was particularly bad. The premise was horribly silly.

Awful ...

... would be flattering it.

imDb 6.8? DO NOT believe this for a second.

You know how much you hate predictve text on your phone? This is so much worse!

P.S. If a movie centres around a sport, at least include footage that resembles the sport and people who look like thy might be able to play it!

Made for TV movie
alanmcconville-695084 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
If you like to watch 'lifetime' movies and laugh at how ridiculous they are then this one is a beauty. The lengths this coach goes to to sabotage her own team are hilarious.

For the record, soccer scouts don't just draft strikers. The best players don't always play Center forward. Enjoyed this one anyway.

The title says it all. The acting is of a very poor quality and the storyline is not credible.

Wow this is bad bad bad. No wonder this world is in the state it's in if kids at 'school '? Find sport so important over learning the important things in life. Bad story, bad acting. What colour is the sky where the high rating viewers live?

Above Average Lifetime Movie
SarahBryantfan11 December 2018
The heroine, Sarah Grey, looks a lot like a younger Elisha Cuthbert here and very pretty in her royal blue soccer uniform. While not my favorite Lifetime film, I still score it a "10". There are several catfights, though most are very brief, except for the climactic one. The story is somewhat standard for a Lifetime movie, but still has a somewhat unique ending.

Not a detective movie
axhorn12 September 2019
This movie is in the 'slasher' movie genre. Complete with scantily clad teenage girls and illogical plot lines.

Pretty Good!
vengeance2013 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Watched this today & was immediately hooked. I usually like these types of films which have a edge-of-your-seat type theme about them. Thriller & deception esque.

The films story is about a young teenage girl named Cameron whose apart of the Wildcats Schools Football team, short after she & her mum move. She has a promising career in both her Football team & her chemistry class. But she soon finds herself the campaign for harassment as the coach of the Wildcats team & her daughter threaten to destroy Cameron's chances at the new school she attends. Cameron must find out whose behind this before it's too late.

I found the film to be pretty good. It took me in & kept me locked from start to finish. The acting was alright, but the editing was quite off in a couple of areas. But aside from that the film had a good pacing & run time & was enjoyable.

Stylish, Suspenseful Thriller
lavatch29 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
"Lethal Soccer Mom" (a.k.a., "Sidelined") is a taut drama about the competitive high school soccer scene at Rawley High School, home of the Wildcats. The film features probably the most monomaniacal and psychopathic coach on the planet.

Coach Rhonda lives through her daughter Hailey, whom she is grooming as the team's star striker. But when Cameron transfers from Westfield, where she led the team to a state championship, Coach Rhonda will do everything in her power to undermine Cameron's chances so that her daughter will not be upstaged.

In the course of the film, the coach is guilty of assault with a deadly weapon, harassment, academic dishonesty, pedophilia, and murder, not to mention child abuse. It is not unusual for a gifted athlete to transfer to a different school. For a good coach, Cameron would have been welcomed onto the team. Instead, Coach Rhonda makes her life a living hell.

The film was exceptionally well directed with good tension building in the midsection of the film and running to the end. The filming in the school included interesting camera angles, close-ups, and an eerie scoring motif. The performances were excellent, and the soccer field scenes were well-choreographed.

At the heart of the film is Cameron's nightmare at a new school. Her only support comes from her mother Kate. Both Coach Rhonda and Kate were living through their daughters' experiences. But, in the case of Kate, the love of a mother for her daughter trumped any obsession for the daughter to fulfill the mom's expectations. In the end, love conquers all even the machinations of a lethal soccer mom.

Good Lifetime movie
scarletepilogue26 August 2021
I enjoy watching most (or many) Lifetime movies and LMN, regardless if they're good or not so good (granted, some are so bad that you seriously cannot fathom watching any longer). This movie is actually pretty decent; I don't know why there are so many bad reviews. Perhaps, some people haven't seen how bad a lot of the "returning" Lifetime actors are that get bounced around from movie to movie and they have yet to discover how to act. The acting in this movie was pretty good, especially for a Lifetime movie. The plot was decent. Overall, it is a good movie and worth watching. I don't know why the movie has so many bad reviews, it's really not that bad.
