Well, The Rookie sure knows how to cram in the maximum amount of stress and pain in 45 minutes or less!
To say The Rookie Season 6 Episode 8 was an adrenaline-inducing, nail-biter, filled to the brim with revelations, badassery, and soul-crushing moments would be an understatement.
While we already knew Monica, the second most interesting redhead to grace this series, was shady as willow tree in July, learning that she's working alongside Blair was a shock.
But that's not to say most of us weren't suspicious of Blair initially.
The Rookie tips its hat as a procedural because it can be formulaic despite all the unpredictable and intense moments.
One thing consistent about this series is that when they introduce a new recurring side character, nine times out of 10, that person is a Baddie or at least adjacent to some nefarious things.
Blair has been high on everyone's suspect list since she...

Actor Nathan Fillion had just completed his run as Castle when he was cast in The Rookie. But he admitted he sometimes found it hard to leave his Castle character behind when doing the hit ABC series.
Nathan Fillion’s ‘Castle’ habits died hard Nathan Fillion | Nicole Wilder/Getty Images
It might’ve taken a while for Fillion to truly shake off Richard Castle for The Rookie. In the ABC series, Fillion found himself in somewhat familiar territory. Like Castle, The Rookie saw Fillion’s character, John Nolan, solving crimes. So it might’ve been easy to channel Rick Castle from time to time, even after the show’s end.
But personality-wise, Castle and Nolan couldn’t have been any more different. Rick Castle was a mystery writer who tagged along with police officers, many times unwelcomed, for his own amusement at first. The character also didn’t always take...

For all its flaws, The Rookie remains an excellent procedural that continues to delight viewers with its balanced mix of police drama, action, and comedy. Based on the true story of an LAPD officer who joined the law enforcement in his mid-40s, the show centers on the department's oldest rookie, John Nolan (Nathan Fillion), who finally gets the chance to become a training officer himself in Season 5. Despite the fact that the ABC series receives mediocre scores from critics, it is very popular among audiences, earning The Rookie not only a spin-off, Feds (unfortunately canceled due to WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes), but also a renewal for a new seventh season.
But for now, we still have three episodes of Season 6 to go, and the plot continues to develop rapidly, providing viewers with intriguing storylines that promise to shock fans closer to the finale. As such, we saw a...

The doctors were in at the top of Nielsen’s streaming ratings for the beginning of April.
Medical dramas The Resident and Grey’s Anatomy were the top two titles for the week of April 1-7, finishing with 1.18 billion and 1.15 billion minutes of viewing time (both stream on Hulu and Netflix). The Resident actually slipped a little from the previous week‘s 1.48 billion minutes, which was good for second overall, but the show that had been ahead of it — Netflix’s 3 Body Problem — fell further. The sci-fi series dropped by about 47 percent to a still solid 937 million minutes of viewing.
Disney’s animated movie Wish had its streaming premiere on April 3 and racked up 1.02 billion minutes of watch time over its first five days on Disney+. One of TV’s most iconic families gets a chance to say goodbye.
Deadline reports that The Conners is nearing an official pickup at ABC for Season 7.
The caveat is that it would be the Roseanne follow-up’s final season of around six episodes.
A deal is still being ironed out but is expected to be finalized relatively soon. John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, and Lecy Goranson are among the cast members expected to return.
Many final seasons of long-running shows lose cast members due to the ever-increasing costs of making TV.
A consistent performer for ABC since it premiered, the show has much softer ratings than Roseanne – all following Roseanne’s controversial cancellation in 2018.
The Conners debuted following Roseanne’s cancellation
Roseanne returned earlier in 2018 to blockbuster viewership but was canceled after series star Roseanne Barr’s controversial comments about Valerie Jarrett.

Love is what many of us are inadvertently drawn to within the series.
But it also garners the most drama, and some of it is contrived and unnecessary.
It is far too familiar now for television series to put some of the most notable couples through the wringer for the sole purpose of angst and drama. Yes, we're looking at you, Chenford.
Unfortunately, the status quo for many series has become putting interesting characters together and then showing how terribly they are at conflict resolution.
It's like series are so determined to capitalize off the drama and angst within relationships that they don't even bother investing in any other angle.
It's become frustrating that series have resorted to the same patterns when showcasing their couples and what they go through rather than delivering on the more realistic and inspiring option of serving as positive examples for relationships.

Actor Nathan Fillion didn’t take long to find work in The Rookie after Castle‘s 2016 cancellation. Looking back on the way the series ended, Fillion might’ve been just as disappointed in it as some of the show’s fans.

The first step in fixing a problem is acknowledging that there is one and getting help.
Tim Bradford is on the path to doing that after everything that has happened to him, and Blair is the person he's willing to turn to to get the ball rolling by the end of The Rookie Season 6 Episode 7.
But is that the best choice? It's one of many things worth discussing during this installment.
Overall, it was a genuinely pleasant hour! And that sounds a bit sardonic, but that's not the case.
One of the things that made "Crushed" so fun and intriguing was that all the characters were involved with the same case and approached it from different angles.
The Rookie is infinitely easier to follow during these instances when one specific case brings together all the characters we love.

It was an act that left fans reeling, many bordering on angry, as Tim pushed Lucy away after a harrowing experience.
Hopefully, we can anticipate that the upcoming episode will pick up where The Rookie Season 6 Episode 6 left off or close to it, and we can face the aftermath of the various events that have seriously impacted Tim Bradford's life.
As mentioned in the promo, Sergeant Grey doesn't mince words to remind Bradford that within the past week, he's dealt with a demotion from his position at Metro due to his misconduct and also broke up with Lucy.
It's particularly amusing that Grey goes out of...

The raging inferno that is a passionate and devoted fanbase with a mission can never be put out.
Not even the firefighters of Station 19 can douse the flames of the passionate fans' relentless pursuit of rescuing this series they love.
It's been an organized reckoning with fans making their voices heard since the second the Station 19 cancelation was announced.
Part of that fight includes passionate pleas for someone to pick up the series, and Netflix would be just the streamer to do it.

Fans of the hit ABC TV show The Rookie were thrilled to learn it had been renewed for season 7, but, we do have some not great news.
If you’re all caught up on The Rookie season six, you’ll have to wait another full week for a new episode.
Unfortunately, there’s no new episode tonight (April 23) and instead, the next new episode will air a week from today on April 30.
You may be wondering why there’s been large gaps between new episodes of the show.
Keep reading to find out more…
The reason why the schedule is so on-and-off is because of the strikes that happened last year. Both the writers’ and actors’ guilds went on strikes, and filming for season 6 could not even take place until November 2023
As a result, season six has a shorter episode count and longer breaks between episodes.

Actor Nathan Fillion has been leading the TV show The Rookie for soon to be seven seasons, now. But with Fillion playing officer John Nolan for so many years, the character hasn’t been a rookie for quite some time.
Fillion recently explained how the show lived up to its premise despite his character’s growing experience.

In the beginning, the show’s title The Rookie told audiences almost everything they needed to know about the series. Fillion played a middle-aged man who makes a sudden and severe career change when he decides to become a police officer. At 47 years-old, Fillion’s John Nolan became the oldest rookie in the LAPD at the time. Which was one of the main reasons why the Castle star was so attracted to the show.

CBS has canceled CSI: Vegas after three seasons and So Help Me Todd after two. The news is not surprising as Deadline revealed earlier this week that both dramas were heavily on the bubble and in grave danger.
That despite CSI: Vegas and So Help Me Todd being solid ratings performers. With the entire CBS schedule doing well this season and three new drama series joining in 2024-25, NCIS: Origins, Matlock and Watson (in addition to a second season of the Australian NCIS: Sydney), the network was faced with painful decisions, and So Help Me Todd and CSI: Vegas are the least watched CBS drama series this spring in both linear and multi-platform ratings.
In most current linear Nielsen viewership (2/12 to date), CSI: Vegas, which improved its time period, is at #21 among all non-sports broadcast programs with 6.234M viewers and So Help Me Todd at #22 with 6.224M. That is more...

Actor Nathan Fillion’s star power grew thanks to starring in shows like Castle and The Rookie. But before those two hit shows, he considered his sci-fi cult hit Firefly as the show that kick-started his career.
Nathan Fillion revealed that no one heard of him before ‘Firefly’ Nathan Fillion | Albert L. Ortega/Getty Images
Fillion initially didn’t know he’d be able to make a living from acting. In an interview with Closer, he confided that he saw acting as more of a side gig when he went to school. But getting an actual acting job that paid decently changed Fillion’s trajectory.
“I was going to finish off schooling and four months before graduation I got a job on a soap and moved to New York City. I did three years there, moved to Los Angeles on the advice of Bob Woods, who played my uncle on the show.

Chenford has become everything on The Rookie.
Seriously, you needn't look far to see the fanbase devoted to this pairing, and they've been loyal to both the characters individually and as a couple for as long as the series has run.
It's been a long, slow burn for this 'ship, and when it finally sailed during The Rookie Season 5, it practically broke the internet and our brains.
Finally, the long-awaited pairing was together, and we could anticipate all there was to offer with these two as a couple.
What's exciting about Chenford is that the chemistry between Melissa O'Neil and Eric Winter is fantastic and can't be manufactured.
And they have such a profound understanding of their characters and that specific dynamic, and they pour all of that into the series and the storylines that have unfolded.
That's no less the case with the big Chenford breakup during The Rookie...

The Rookie was just renewed at ABC for a seventh season, and fans are delighted to be getting new episodes.
However, unfortunately, if you’re up-to-date on the season 6 episodes, you’ll have to wait two more weeks for season six episode seven.
Now, we’re bringing you the reason why.
Here’s the description for episode 7, titled “Crushed,”: “When two teenagers go missing, it is up to the entire team to find the girls and uncover the truth about their disappearance. Meanwhile, Lopez and Harper are on a different kind...

The Rookie left fans in a somewhat cruel place for a few weeks, with the last new episode on April 9 ending with heartbreak and the next new one not on until April 30. ABC will be airing reruns for the next two Tuesdays, on April 16 and 23. Like other shows, due to the actors’ and writers’ strikes over the summer of 2023, The Rookie kicked off its current season later than usual (in February vs. September), and it will be a shortened one. Usually, during the course of a season, there are some weeks without episodes, with production ongoing. Such could be the case here. But this also gives you the chance to catch up on some of this season’s episodes with reruns. On April 16, ABC will be re-airing Nolan (Nathan Fillion) and Bailey’s (Jenna Dewan) honeymoon episode, “Trouble in Paradise,” the third of the current season. Their dream vacation turns...
