The upcoming revival of the Tim Allen-starring comedy series Last Man Standing on Fox continues to reassemble the team of the original series with a group of executive producers who all had long tenures on the show during its initial run on ABC.
Kevin Abbott, who served as an executive producer on the original series for most of its six seasons on ABC, with stints as showrunner in Season 1 and the second half of Season 6, is back as executive producer/showrunner for Season 7. He will be joined by three other veteran Last Man Standing writer/executive producers: Matt Berry — who also served as showrunner on the original — Kevin Hench and Ed Yeager.
Abbott, Berry, Hench and Yeager will executive produce alongside returning Last Man Standing exec producers Allen, Becky Clements, Marty Adelstein, Shawn Levy and Allen’s managers Richard Baker and Rick Messina.

Norman Lear is getting into the kids’ animation business. Lear’s Act III Prods. is developing the series “Man of the House,” from writer/illustrator Michael Molina (“Trivia Night”) for Nickelodeon.
Molina, who’s Colombian-American, has created a show about José, an 11-year-old who helps his mother Maria watch over his two younger siblings, Maria Juliana (aka “Maju”) and Diego, while trying to form a hip-hop group with his quirky classmate and downstairs neighbor Wilbur.
Lear and his Act III partner Brent Miller, who helped Lear recently revive “One Day at a Time” for Netflix, will executive produce.
“Norman has been telling stories about families, parents, and kids for many years, and it’s so exciting that he and his producing partners Brent and Michael, want to tell this story to today’s generation of Nick kids,” said Chris Viscardi, Senior Vice President, Nickelodeon Animation.

The Blacklist is returning!
NBC made the announcement that the drama will continue for Season 6 with James Spader and Megan Boone both attached.
The Blacklist premiered on September 23, 2013, among much fanfare for the return of Spader to television.
From what I've read, The Blacklist renewal was tied into the renewal of Timeless and the pickup of the now passed over Bad Boys spinoff, La's Finest and another pilot, comedy Guess Who Died.
Related: NBC Renews Blindspot for Season 4, Gives Series Order to Manifest
Fans are still anxiously awaiting the fate of Timeless, also a Sony TV production.
NBC wanted a reduction of fees on The Blacklist, something that must have come to pass for the renewal to have come through.
The big story for The Blacklist Season 5 has circled around a bag of bones.
Whose bones are they?

It came down to the wire but NBC just picked up a 22-episode sixth season of The Blacklist, from Sony Pictures TV. There is no final decision yet on the studio’s other bubble drama series, Timeless.
The Blacklist was a massive hit when it debuted in 2013 behind The Voice on Monday. It took a hit when the network in Season 2 relocated it to shore up Thursday night, using a post-Super Bowl airing to give it a pop. While The Blacklist never came close to the ratings heights of its first season on Monday, it has been a relatively consistent ratings performer, boosted by solid DVR gains.
In its new Wednesday 8 Pm slot this season, The Blacklist has averaged a 1.6 rating in 18-49 and 8.8 million viewers in L+7 to improve the time period by +19% in adults 18-49 vs. last year when recently renewed Blindspot aired there.
The Blacklist comes from Sony TV.

Norman Lear’s eight-year journey to get his retirement village comedy Guess Who Died to the small screen has hit another snag. NBC has passed on the single-camera pilot from Lear and Peter Tolan.
The move was somewhat surprising. While Guess Who Died flew largely under the radar during pilot season, NBC went aggressively after the project last summer. The script was a favorite of the network’s top brass who only a couple of weeks ago flew 95-year-old Lear in by helicopter to the company’s retreat where they praised the pilot, I hear.
I hear there has been incoming outside interest in Guess Who Died in the past few weeks. For instance, I hear there is excitement about the project at YouTube Red, though they have not seen the pilot yet as it just got the pass at NBC.

A year after ABC cancelled “Last Man Standing” and star Tim Allen complained that it was because of his political leanings, the show has been reborn — this time on Fox.
20th Century Fox TV is behind “Last Man Standing,” which makes sense that it would eventually wind up on the studio’s sister network. The move also comes a year after 20th attempted to revive “Last Man Standing” at various other outlets, coming close to a deal at Cmt, but ultimately not making the financials work.
Of course, a year later, thanks in part to the success of “Roseanne,” multi-cam comedies are hot — and “Last Man Standing,” like “Roseanne,” stars an early 1990s conservative-leaning family sitcom star.
Series regular Hector Elizondo won’t be back, as he’s committed to the NBC pilot “Guess Who Died.” But besides Allen, the revival will also feature Nancy Travis, Jonathan Adams, Amanda Fuller,...

It’s official: Last Man Standing will be back. A year after it was canceled by ABC, Fox has closed deals to bring back the multi-cam comedy starring Tim Allen for premiere during the 2018-2019 season.
The bulk of the show’s core cast is back, including Allen, Nancy Travis, Jonathan Adams, Amanda Fuller, Christoph Sanders and Jordan Masterson. I hear co-star Hector Elizondo also has a deal in place to come back. His casting is currently in second position to his NBC comedy pilot Guess Who Died who is not expected to go forward at the network.
As Deadline previously reported, Lms producer 20th Century Fox TV had been in talks with sibling Fox Broadcasting Co. for a new season of the series, which will be its seventh, with Allen locked in to return.
Created by Jack Burditt, Last Man Standing stars Allen as Mike Baxter, a married father of three girls,...

In May 2013, Sony Pictures TV was behind NBC’s most buzzed about pilot, drama The Blacklist, at the time the highest testing NBC drama pilots in 10 years. And yet, The Blacklist was one of the last pilots to be picked up to series by the network on Friday evening, just hours before NBC was to unveil its fall schedule on Sunday ahead of its Monday upfront presentation. That was because NBC and Sony TV had been embroiled in intense and complex negotiations involving four projects in contention that spanned several days. In the end, with The Blacklist leading the way, NBC picked up all four shows. That included series orders to three Sony TV pilots — the James Spader thriller, which landed the coveted Monday 10 Pm time slot, blended family comedy Welcome To The Family and off-cycle medical drama The Night Shift — as well as a renewal of cult favorite Community,...

I hear star and executive producer Allen has closed a deal to return. 20th TV is currently in conversations with other cast members as well as members of the series’ creative team, including producers, to come back. Two of the key Last Man Standing series regulars, Nancy Travis and Hector Elizondo, are tied to other multi-camera comedies at the moment. Travis stars in the upcoming Netflix comedy series The Kominsky Method while Elizondo is a lead of the pilot Guess Who Died, which is in contention at NBC.

This new season of the series is tied to the Emmy race, and I will interviewing numerous big names to see what makes them tick and how they have succeeded in a very tough and changing business.
