It took 63 days of filming over 2 years to complete principal photography. A 63 day shooting schedule was preferred over an 18-day shoot in order to get better photography and performances.
The creatures costume was stolen from the set before it even got a chance to be filmed.
Rick Dyer plays the Bigfoot hoaxer. In real life, he perpetrated two major hoaxes. First in 2008 fooled the BBC, Nat Geo, CNN... then in 2012, Dyer claimed to kill a Bigfoot behind a Walmart in Texas. He called the creature Hank and started touring the body around the United States, charging people to view it. To view the body, which lay beneath Plexiglas in a wooden coffin, adults were charged $10 and children were charged $5. The sold-out tour eventually pulled in close to $500,000.
The Gloria character was replaced half way through production. Many originals scenes shot with the original Gloria are used in the film opting to shoot reverses instead of full re-shoots.
