It's hard to know where to begin to analyze the garbled, incoherent, uninspiring chaos that "Alone in the Woods" is.
I had high hopes for this movie when I saw the trailer and discovered that it was filmed near my home town in Euclid, Ohio. It looked like a take on the excellent and super creepy 1999 movie, "The Blair Witch Project".
However, "Alone in the Woods" is no "Blair Witch".
When 5 local college students go missing in an area known as The Spiritual Woods, parents seek the help of a group of supernatural investigators to find them when the police and the media are unable to do so. What follows is a dull, terribly uninteresting, messy execution of this premise with a cast of ridiculous characters, awful script, forgettable dialogue and wooden acting. Due to poor film and sound editing (you'll be startled by the abrupt, badly edited jump cuts and the inconsistent volume made it hard to hear the aforementioned forgettable dialogue), viewers may simply opt to stop watching before the first 10 minutes are up. They would be wise to do so ...
This would be the moment where I will reveal what can be the only "spoiler" if you are not interested in watching further. Once you think that this terrible movie can not get any worse, the director makes a move that can only be described as schizophrenic and plays a portion of the movie in reverse!!, but not before the credits roll! That's right: You think you've seen the end, but the credits roll and the movie continues in REWIND ... in case you want to re-live some of the film's more mind-numbing scenes and even so, I still could not tell you what happened.
And to be honest, you will not care to try to understand what happened anyway.
