More please.

While I can't speak to the authenticity of Australian location portrayal, as other reviewers have, I think the show was great. Acting, camera work, jokes, and banter between coworkers, all served to create a believable environment. And that dark past of his, just waiting to be revealed and possibly destroy everything, hovers in the background, creating tension. I find myself waiting for the next episode. One reviewer complains about there being a personal story behind the main character, but that's how we end up finding out about that mysterious past of his. And, seriously, what do they want? A cardboard cutout character with minimal lines and no home life? The added drama keeps the show interesting, adds extra levels to the character as it goes, and family members are always potentially at risk when there's a hero character involved, so there's that. Give the show a chance and don't pay attention to bad reviews if you already think you might like something.

Suspenseful, quirky and Brisbane as you've never seen it before!

The first episode of Harrow was a fun watch in my opinion. I like how there seems to be a crime-of-the-day element with the overarching plot lines. Looking forward to seeing what comes next! Not sure what the negative reviews on here are about. There's cliches and common ground in most crime dramas. I think some can't see past their own biases and assess this on its own merit. I'd avoid trying to compare the show to anything else and simply watch with an open mind!

Excellent! A slow burn just a good show should be.

If it doesn't get you in straight away then persist a little. The characters develop nicely as the writers find their stride and the stories gain momentum. Definitely worth a watch.

Just like Forever...

I really like Harrow. Was so upset when they canceled Forever so this helps make up for it. But I still prefer Forever cuz I love the immortality and Judd Hursh's role.

Absolutely great!

It's very well done! Interesting and catchy! Brisbane looks beautiful and it's pretty cool to see so many known places. Someone compare it to Dexter but had nothing to do with it. And someone rated after they watched just 10 minutes. I can honestly say that it's totally worth to watch till the end! Great TV show!!!

I am so happy to see that it has been renewed for season 2!

Loan is absolutely amazing in this new show and I have fallen in love with Remy and Ella as well. I was hooked on the United States series Forever and crushed when it was cancelled. Harrow is a dream come true for me!

Get rid of the family
The main stories are great, but why the objectionable teenagers are in it is beyond me.

[8.2] The charismatic conquistador
cjonesas26 May 2021
A nice piece of Australian entertainment with fine acting, engaging storylines, bright visual effects and smooth, entertaining flow.

It doesn't quite know whether it is all forensic pathology or it is "soap" melodrama; whereas the first season was the best IMO.

Each season drifts more toward not-credible melodramatic plots surrounding Harrow's personal life. That's not really good and weak. It shows that the writers are almost out of idea, which strongly showed itself in season 3.

Nevertheless, it is quite entertaining and the charismatic Ioan Gruffudd never disappoints. He's one of my favorite actors.

Stretching believability
kevin-mac-13 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I thoroughly enjoyed season one and was eagerly awaiting season two. Viewing season two was rewarding until it came to the last two episodes. Here the credibility of the storyline was seriously stretched. From far too many coincidences that were either not picked up upon or ignored.

If Hornblower is in it, I'm watching it! (Cuz I can't spell his name.) Well written, well acted, great scenery. This Texan enjoys everything Australia, esp. This show. Witty, quirky, funny, suspenseful.

Love Harrow!! Hate His Onscreen Family...
kafcook-124 August 2019
I don't mind him having a back story and fleshed out character, but the females that play his ex-wife and daughter are awful. Their characters are awful and they are poorly acted. All other secondary characters are wonderful, please write out the family SOON!!!

Second season & his family is still around and still annoying...

Warning: Spoilers
Like many of those who enjoyed 'Forever', we wanted to like this show. But the hidden story turned out to be a case of self-defense that any sane man would have turned over to the police and been cleared. The second season went from bad to worse as Harrow is too dumb to get the police involved and they kill off the one, single likable character on the series. That was enough for us. How do you make a man so observant and intelligent and yet have him be a complete dummy? The writers should go back to soap operas and Harrow should get a job parking cars.

Enjoyable watch.
redumbrella-5147513 March 2018
Yes, there are elements of other crime dramas in Harrow - but there's elements of other crime dramas in all crime dramas! So putting that aside, this is an enjoyable show. Easy to watch and with some novel quirks of its own. Waiting to see just how 'dark' Harrow gets.

It doesn't want to be Dexter
pontram25 April 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I only watched this show in the first place, because of Ioan Gruffudd, since I liked him very much in "Forever", and since I missed him after the show's unjust cancellation. "Harrow" is a Procedural, and as one of these it is pretty formulaic, like "Bones" over its many seasons. But it has also some interesting sidelines, like a partially disturbed daughter, who plays the homeless drifter out of rebellion, or because of other reasons that have to be revealed (I am through ep. 07), and a big mystery that involves a body, sunk by Harrow himself, that lands on his own table for forensic examination.

One complaint here is that there is a strong resemblance to "Dexter", which is a complete misunderstanding of the first two episodes. Remember that Dexter is a serial killer, who channelizes his need for killing by viciously executing criminals who somehow escaped the legal system. He is deeply psychotic and a sociopath, though sympathetical and, sometimes, even justified.

Harrow's work isn't anything like that, it's not even as bloody or gory as "Bones" is sometimes. Harrow himself is just an intelligent, capable, very good looking, with a voice of silk speaking chaotic Pathologist, most likely as he was in "Forever", but without the immortality.

Every episode is structured alike, the said body from Harrow's secret gets some attention and progress, problems with his daughter and related to his ex-wife come to light, and a case is solved. And, since the main character seems to be solo since a long time (as he is very good looking, but also a nerd), he also gets kind of a love story.

These ingredients, combined with decent acting, a bit of humor, and good production values make "Harrow" one of the better shows, if one wants to be entertained nicely. The father-doughter-troubles are somewhere interesting for me as a father of two daughters.

I agree on some complaints that not every script is the most ingenious, there are some strange outcomes which may or may not be facepalm-worthy, but since "Bones" did that on a weekly basis (with additional SF elements) and succeeded, why shouldn't "Harrow" do somithing like that, too ?

As a German native speaker, I do also realize that Ioan Gruffudd does have an accent a bit different than most of the other actors. But I do not understand the complaints, which are very similiar to those about other productions in the U.S., where foreigners play. By the way, it is nowhere said up to now, that Harrow is an Australian or spent his whole life in Australia.

I give "Harrow" show a 7, hoping that it will see a second season.

Want more of this series
monicasspecials5 February 2023
My husband and I loved this show. We're so hoping there's more seasons to come. The rapport between Harrow, Fairley and Grace is fabulous, fun and the chemistry between them all is hard to find in TV shows today. We in the United States are hungry for shows with storylines such as this and characters that just jump off the screen right into our living rooms. The writers, directors and cast do a great job of making a drama with a healthy mix of humor to make the characters believable and leave us wanting more. I haven't been this interested in a show since Boston Legal. The chemistry between the characters made this show a success too. We need more shows like this.

Less Harrow, more intelligence
Left_back15 March 2021
What is it about smart people making terrible choices? The first season was a smash, bang introducing us to a pathologist with secrets, relationship issues and death of the week. Great chemistry between principals and a nice wrap up at season's end. The through story was riveting and a shocker, Harrow actively muddying an investigation into the death of his ex-wife's partner for... reasons.

Season two tried to give us more of the same with a side-character's death for spice. The through story gave us more terrible choices and the overcoming of a stalker, to boot. I was hoping for more emotional and character development, but I got the feeling that Harrow - for all his innate intellect and intelligence - is put through these shenanigans so we can see how helpless he is at dealing with personal issues that interfere with his daily life. Plus I imagine he gets a retainer for the shocked expression he gives as he realizes his jeopardy. To be honest, I dislike it - but I assume it's what draws his audience. The sexual tension between the new office cutie, Grace Molyneaux and Harrow is good for some laughs but is distracting. Get on with it or ditch it. Really. Please.

Lo and behold, we're in the midst of season 3 and Harrow might actually be holding it together (not really). No love life to interfere - although the producers are stretching the almost relationship between Harrow and Grace Molyneaux still distracting from the the main storylines, and uselessly scripted. But what is really disappointing is the season's through story about Harrow's son (presumed). But no, tapping into Harrow's parental instinct to protect family (really cliched) Harrow becomes such a hot mess, squaring this with his problem-solving ideals seems flimsy at best.

The main characters are trying - there is so much talent in the room. Yet this show will circle the drain if the show runners can't make the stories hold water. It doesn't matter how much we care about the characters if the stories can't keep up with the acting.

Harrow
Catsface9911 April 2018
Harrow is an entertaining detective show. Ioan Gruffudd plays the medical examiner who usually always figures out what is up. There is a secret to Gruffudd's character, which keeps me going back each week to see if all will be revealed. I enjoy this program, it is one of the few new programs that are enjoyable. It isn't American, it's Australian. Is the US losing it's creativity?

Great season 1, awful season 2, afraid to watch season 3
lookawry14 April 2021
First I was so happy to see crime drama that doesn't cover body during autopsy scene. And main character Harrow was fantastic with very Interesting story line. But alas season 2 was very disappointing. They started to cover bodies during autopsy. Story was very predictable and lots of scenes were just doesn't make any sense. It's like just making up stories only to suffer main character. Now I am afraid to watch season 3 which is just ended. It's becoming just another boring wannabe American crime show. As a Aussie myself, it's very sad...

Question

Do you know if there will be a second season? In my opinion, it is very good, even though we could already guess the reason for the homicide, the development of the plot is very interesting ...

Warning: Spoilers
I recently discovered this TV show and I really enjoyed it even though it was weird to see a forensic pathologist do his own investigation. I thought, okay, whatever, it's fiction. What was so annoying to me though was how Harrow is Mr. Morals in Season 2 Episode 3 had that speech about how "YOU SHOULD HAVE GONE TO THE POLICE" bla bla when he literally killed a man himself, dropped him in the ocean, and got away with it.

Down a unrecognizable slope
Pursewarden18 August 2019
First season was well executed and interesting until the bit overextended ending. But season 2 is so irritating it's difficult to bear. Overacted, stretching believability to extremes beyond any forgivable point. Characters out of character, plot driven irrational behavior. It all works to ruin any good thing it had for the sake of cheap thrills.

Harrow is a an addictive cartoon.
philjquitt16 June 2019
Quite like the way the camera stays on Harrow's face for too long, as he portrays his angst at each new situation. The director is saying....."see my international star drawcard." All good fun. The shots of Brisbane CBD where Harrow lives on his boat are fun for us locals. The old dental school in Turbot St is used as his work location - good call. It does get you in, even though it's not polished. Sort of like Brisbane itself.
