Surprisingly good
wonderland_zzzzzz20 August 2021
I started this because the plot sounded Lifetime-y and I thought it would be a good hate-watch, like to drink and laugh at, probably like 4 out of 10 stars, but it actually ended up being decently well-written and even better acted. Indira is fantastic. So I'll have to find something else to hate-watch, I guess.

Well made and performed!
jkt200614 April 2021
This 47 mins movie feels like a properly made feature film. It has its tense moments and a suspenseful atmosphere which continues until the climax. It ends up being a mystery suspense movie actually but is so well made and acted that it doesn't let you move an inch. Indira Verma does a great job yet again as the mother. Totally worth the time. Don't miss it!

A Family Shattered!
lavatch17 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
"Unspeakable" was a taut film with 47 minutes of effective domestic drama. A family crisis arises when Jo receives an anonymous text that her live-in boyfriend Danny may have done something "inappropriate." What follows in Jo's attempt to find answers.

A theme that the filmmakers are exploring is the danger of a witch hunt when unsubstantiated allegations are made. Indeed, there is a ripple effect felt across the family due to a single text message.

It does not appear that a crime had been committed in this household. And yet, by the end, the family may never be the same. A false hint about the "unspeakable" eventually turned into a family "shattered."

LOVE Indira Varma, but...
avalonshores13 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I am SO TIRED of movies and series that have no satisfying conclusion, they just stop. This seems to be a trend and it seems like lazy storytelling. Why develop a plot, establish characters and make the audience relate to them and care about them, if there is no ending to the story? Why deliberately frustrate viewers by denying them any sense of completion? That being said, Indira Varma is a treasure and I would watch her stand motionless in an empty room, so this otherwise disappointing film does have her going for it. Actually all of the actors gave excellent performances - it's just a shame the material they were given to work with was so unsatisfying.

Terrible
svoiles-8286820 June 2023
It seems like she wanted to believe her boyfriend and keep her relationship going. I don't understand her behavior. I know what my behavior would have been. Cancel the dinner party. Read the text message that my daughter sent my boyfriend on his phone. Ask him to move out until this was sorted out. Take my daughter to the ER, doctor, and therapist. Ask my son has he seen anything unusual. The ending didn't make sense. It almost seem like this was not a movie, but a play. Maybe, that is what it should have been. The whole movie felt unfinished. You never got any answers. The film just ended. Dumb movie.

Weak end
Prismark106 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Unspeakable tackles the subject of suspected child abuse. Jo (Indira Varma) has two children including 11 year old Katie. She has split up with her husband. She has found love with dishy nurse Danny (Luke Treadaway) who is younger than her and he has moved into their home.

Jo's life unravels over the course of a couple of days as she receives anonymous texts insinuating something is going on with Danny and Katie. Suddenly Jo's mind questions everything about Danny.

I thought the drama started well but petered out and by the end it was rather pointless. I can understand Jo being beside herself with suspicion, maybe Danny had an ulterior motive for going with an older woman.

However when she rings a confidential helpline, I was taken out of the drama. That conversation had to be one of the worse scripted pieces I have seen this year. 'Oh he works as a nurse, that means he gets access to children at work as well!'

Of course there was another explanation which the drama was reluctant to explore, that the text was from a troll or someone jealous of Jo and Danny's relationship which we later get a hint of.

Better than I expected.
HumbleMensa30 July 2023
What the actors, directors, and production team accomplished in this is nothing short of startling. An extremely sensitive theme intertwined with a thriller style storyline that has an emotionally charged sinister yet totally believable situation going on. A lot of psychology in this one, and refreshingly surprising just how much is packed into less than a hour. I can't spoil it for you but it's worth watching. Again, the actors really pulled from within to give their characters the feelings they'd experience. Watch it over a cup of coffee or two. Also found the length suited my attention span much like an episode from a series, except it ended, which left me wanting more but also came to conclusion and I sort of liked that. Didn't have to invest more time.

Boringgggg
corkers-4624120 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
To save your time. The dad makes the whole thing up by sending a text of false allegations to the mother of the 11 year old, saying that something is going on with her daughter and the mothers (she's 44, dk his age) boyfriend. No ab*se happens and nothing goes on between the 11 year old and any man/boy. You barley even see the daughter in the movie, just a bunch of scenes with the mums bad acting and her face looking like a slapped a**. You even get annoyed with how unseriously the mum takes the situation and potentially puts her daughter in danger. You want the kind of movie that you probably came for, then watch 'B*stard out of Carolina'.

Very poor acting too!

Not even anything educational, there's not even a build up, it's very slow and a waste of time.

Loved it! Thought provoking...
Tinkerlillie8 August 2023
I thought this was very well written and the actors were all excellent. Indira Varma was brilliant in her portrayal of the mother.

It packed a punch for such a short film. Extremely thought provoking and undeniably contentious, as indicated by the differing reviews.

It has you jumping to conclusions, questioning actions taken within the storyline and questioning what you would do (or think you would do!) yourself under such circumstances . It is undeniably a very sensitive issue with far reaching ramifications.

It's always very interesting that we, as viewers, are quick to decide what we would do in a situation like this film dramatises when never having lived it. That in itself proves that it is an excellent watch, as it attracts such differing opinions.

Spoilers. Very well done
Mehki_Girl16 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
They packed a lot into this short. As someone else pointed out, it was a obviously written by men.

Warning spoilers below:

I'm not going to fault the story for that, because I am for not jumping to conclusions. Much as I hate child molestation, I am also very convinced that some men have been falsely accused, not necessarily by children but a lot of times by vindictive, women, especially in child custody cases.

So I do like the fact that she was somewhat measured in her response, but very concerned about her child and, perhaps, part of her concern was finding out something she didn't want to know. It wasn't completely clear that she was concerned about possibly making a false accusation and totally ruining this man's life.

You hope she goes back and tells her friend that this was not true and the friend keeps her mouth shut.

The relationship is broken now because, well, the dad had some great points. She's brought an unknown man into her home with two young children and their young daughter who's going to be growing up within the home.

Whether or not their relationship could be salvaged, he definitely should move out. She'll never look at him and he'll never look at the daughter the same ever again.

I do believe he should not hold her question against her, because he should understand how a parent would feel getting that message and that she should not have not asked the question in deference to him, but in support of making sure her child was safe.

A Gripping TeleMovie that focuses on the corrosive nature of DOUBT. Short and most watchable. An 8 from me
nkqcbfqjx3 December 2023
In less than 50 minutes this thriller moves from seemingly happy families to the broken pieces of a budding relationship. A woman splits from her husband. Arrangements are made to share the kids on alternate weekends. One of the kids is a brooding 11 year old girl: many parents would be very familiar with the bubbling hormones and the secretive life they can lead.meanwhile the mother begins a friendship with a much younger man. He moves into her home and finds himself as part of a family. Shortly thereafter the mother receives an anonymous text message suggesting her boyfriend might be behaving inappropriately with the daughter. Doubt ensues and works its corrosive spell.

Certainly worth the time.
