The image of the bloodied reclining chair with long fangs which appears on posters and disc box art does not actually appear in a scene in the movie.
Only one recliner comfy chair was used for filming. There were no multiples or back-ups.
The movie was originally titled "My Lover, My Lazy Boy" but the production feared being sued by the La-Z-Boy furniture company. After this, the Stephen Kingesque title ''The Furnishing'' was then considered, until finally some one came up with the ''Killer Sofa'' title which stuck.
The cost of the chair was only $100 in New Zealand dollars or around US $64 in American currency.
The one person recliner seat, the central character and subject of the movie, is not actually a sofa. A sofa, is defined by Oxford Languages, as ''a long upholstered seat with a back and arms for two or more people''. The recliner in the movie is a one-seater not a two-seater. A couch or lounge tend to seat several or three or more people.
