In the mid 80's 1985 to be exact "Simply Red" had a huge pop ballad hit with "Holding Back the Years" as clearly it's one of my all time favorite hit songs as it's words and message reflect the past and the music video goes along with the song so well as it shows memories and how upbringing helped shape one. The video shows a little boy in the English country side who deals with his mother upbringing him with struggles and too this young man as he matures is attracted to one of his school teachers. Things that many and most of us can relate to, really fine well done good song and the video goes along well showing past reflection and how time and people move thru the years after they are shaped. Also this song played at the end of a 1987 "Miami Vice" episode called "Hooker by Crook" as it plays at the end when Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith are out on the ocean in a boat.
