Disturbing
greenheart22 January 2022
What a disturbing little movie this is, yet still I found myself glued to it. Desperate to be liked, desperate to be noticed, icy cold on the outside, you never know what is going on inside someone's head.

A fascinating watch and yet also troubling.

Plot holes galore

We didn't get a real sense of what motivated Gastón in his anarchy, just that he was a sociopath and a user. Esteban was a more finely-drawn character whose bubbling resentment was ready to be tapped by the attractive new lad Gastón.

There are soupçons of a bromance, but this was not really explored in the film and we were left with just a few hints and suggestions as to the sexuality of the two leads with an overwhelming impression that Gastón used his looks and personality to ensnare people into his plans.

I refuse to get into spoilers, but in some of the escapades that the lads were involved in, it is hard to believe that they would not have been seen and/or caught. In fact, I simply don't believe them, especially the last two.

The ending was unsatisfactory. It beggars belief that Gastón's destiny would not have been discovered and revealed.

I watched all the way through hoping that things would get less messy and more structured into a semblance of reality. Sadly, that didn't occur. I can't really recommend this.
