The crowning achievement of the golden age of MTV music videos by unsung cinematic master Mark Romanek. Single greatest favor Joel Peter-Witken ever got.

Tough for me to see appeal and creativity in here

Warning: Spoilers
These award-nominated slightly over 4.5 minutes we got here are the music video for the Nine Inch Nails song "Closer" and this one was released back in 1994, so it's gonna have its 25th anniversary. The director is the then pretty prolific music video filmmaker Mark Romanek and NIN's Trent Reznor (an Oscar winner today, was still in his 20s at that point and obviously very willing to shock his audiences with pretty graphic language in the lyrics here in terms of sexuality. The video is even more gross, but honestly it all feels a bit shocking for the sake of being shocking and not as a result of complex and creative film/music making. A bit of a pity. I really like some of Romanek's other stuff and also NIN have songs I enjoy, but their collaboration here does very little for me. Not a catchy tune either and I found the song just as forgettable as the music video. Luckily it was over quickly, don't watch or listen to and I give it a thumbs-down.
