Entertaining look - upstairs downstairs in Marina Bay, Singapore

Warning: Spoilers
I'm impressed that this episode alone already has 7 votes in IMDb, so not bad. I haven't been to Marina Bay Sands hotel, but this provides an insight from the perspective of the hard-working employees who service the hordes of tourists who descend upon this famous Singapore hotel. It's fantastic to see Singapore become a first world country following its secession from Malaysia. Why would Singapore even think of wanting to unite with Malaysia? Why volunteer to leave first class to go to economy? I say that with respect to Malaysia (which isn't a third world country by the way), and hope they can match the standards of Singapore.

Valets, chefs, cleaners, they are covered. I learned that the Chinese expatriates constitute most of the housekeeping staff (which according to the hosts is the least desirable task in the hotel), and they are cheerful.

I'd also like to know if there's special staff accommodation, and also their working hours.

Marina Bay Sands

At the start of the episode we are told that it is a hotel with a spaceship on top of it. Just a little later it is a hotel with a boat on top or is it a surfboard?

I have actually been to the Marina Bay Sands, you can pay to visit the observation deck at the top. I did consider actually staying at the hotel once but felt I did not want to pay a lot of money for what would just be a basic room when for half that money I could get a better hotel experience in Singapore.

Of course they really do not show you the mundane ordinary rooms in any of its three tower blocks. That would be too boring. You get to see the suites that costs thousands of pounds for one night with 24 hours butler service.

The presenters Giles Coren and Monica Galetti try out to be a butler and chef respectively at the hotel, but really the program was a bit dull.

A little bit like the hotel once you realise that the wow factor lies in the infinity swimming pool at the top with the Singapore skyline but apart from that, it has very little else to offer.
