"Madonna: La Isla Bonita" is a 4-minute music video for the song in the tile by the artist in the title. Madonna was slightly under the age of 30 back then, so half the age she is now that this one has its 30th anniversary. Director of this 250-second clip is Mary Lambert and she worked with Madonna on many occasions. This one has to be one of my favorite songs and music videos by Madonna. The atmosphere, the costumes, the temptation, the whole setting, it all works incredibly well with the song really and the song itself is truly catchy and it fits Madonna's voice and aura nicely too. I wish she could have done more in Spanish. But it's alright if what she did is as good as this one here. Oh yeah, I see in the cast list that the really young (around the age of 20) future Oscar winner Benicio Del Toro is in here too, even before his Bond film appearance, but if you don't know who he is, it will be very difficult to spot him. This is certainly my favorite short film from 1987, if you want to call it like that, and the only reason I did not give it an even better rating is probably that I enjoy the Alizée cover version of this one still a bit more. Nonetheless, highly recommend it. Go see and listen to it if you are not one of the 35 million on Youtube who already did.
