Eugene : I guess the right thing for me to do now is to come clean to your mom.
Rapunzel : Eugene, what you did was deceitful and by every right, yes, you should come clean to my mom, but... I can't let you do that.
Eugene : Wait. What? Why?
Rapunzel : Because I love you, Eugene, and *I* will forgive you, but I can't be sure they will. So...
[Exhales]
Rapunzel : Okay, here's what we're gonna do. We are going to sneak the ring back into my mom's room...
Eugene : Rapunzel, hey. Stop. Look, I... I love you, too, so much, and thank you, but I can't. Cheating, lying and deception, that may have been how Flynn Rider would handle this, but I'm Eugene Fitzherbert now, and I have to do this the right way. That means accepting the consequences, no matter what they are.

Lance Strongbow : Haha! Wow! There's more gold coins in here than I can count!
Eugene : So there must be more than seven.
Lance Strongbow : What's wrong with you?
Eugene : You duped me! You took advantage of my loyalty!
Lance Strongbow : I wouldn't say I took advantage, I borrowed it. Here, you can have it back.

Rapunzel : I can't believe you would do this!
Eugene : Rapunzel, I... I'm sorry.
Lance Strongbow : Princess? If I may...
Eugene : You know what? You've said enough, Lance. Don't listen to him.
Lance Strongbow : It's all my fault.
Eugene : But what do I know?

Eugene : Okay, that ring we stole belonged to the queen. The same queen who took me into her home and family, and as soon as she sees Rapunzel wearing it, she will put two and two together, and be furious. Or heartbroken. I'm not sure how she'll react, she's a tough read sometimes.
