Video of life, love and a strong message about keeping her baby!
blanbrn4 July 2019
"Papa Don't Preach" is a strong song and video from Madonna as it has a message of life. The music video shot in New York follows the material girl as a teen who's in a relationship of love and passion. And it intersect showing her life with daddy(actor Danny Aiello) who has conflict and tension with his daughter even more so after he finds out about her pregnancy. The video is also mixed with Madonna dancing in a background black like studio. Still the actions and words of this song are powerful as it's maybe a VOTE to be pro life, as one knows Madonna was always blunt and outspoken.

It was okay I guess, very 80s

Warning: Spoilers
"Papa Don't Preach" is a 5-minute short film from 1986, so this one had its 30th anniversary last year already. The title already gives away that here we have a music video by famous recording artist Madonna, who was still in her 20s when this was made. The song made the headlines a while ago again when Ozzy Osborne's daughter made a cover of this one. Anyway, we will take a look at the original today. Madonna looks kinda nice in here with short blonde hair and the video is not as sexual or controversial as some of her other stuff really as it is about a father-daughter relationship, even if there are references to (potential) boyfriends. The song is fine, but nothing too special or extraordinarily catchy I would say. Director and one of the writers is James Foley, who is still a prolific filmmaker today, in terms of both big and small screen. The other actors in here are also still working today and the cinematography is by the legendary Michael Ballhaus. Overall, the awards attention these five minutes received may have been a bit too much, but it's not a bad music video I guess. A cautious thumbs-up from me and a positive recommendation, even if it is probably only really worth checking out (from time time again) by fans of the singer.

I'm keeping my baby!

A great music video to an iconic Madonna song. The message is clear and the message is strong, I'm keeping my baby. A solid mix of Madonna singing solo and the storyline playing out.
