Saturday morning, Jerry Edgar arrives at Hollywood Station. Everyone is surprised to see him as he was not due until Monday. Robertson introduces him to Lincoln. Crate and Barrel tease him, Jerry looks for his chair. His desk is a mess. Bosch goes to a condo close to the Angels Flight, a modest 1 bedroom; he sees Elias's working files on the table, then finds a woman's things, a bottle of wine and condoms in the night table. Snyder calls him back to Elias' office. Arriving he finds out the Special Master appointed by the judge is Honey Chandler. Her role is to protect the dead lawyer's client's rights. Chandler sends Bosch and Snyder out for coffee.
Later Chandler gives Bosch files he can look at, they then trade barbs and what they think about the Harris lawsuit and Elias. Snyder shows Bosch an arrest report on Martin Elias. Bosch sees a photo of Elias with Walker and Mayor Ramos. Chandler gives Bosch the home address for Harris, the Plaintiff.
Jerry gets his chair from Crate. Lt. Billets give him some paperwork to start on.
Bosch and Snyder go to the morgue, Snyder gives a terse update on the IA investigation on the Harris complaint. Using the dead man's finger Bosch unlocks the phone, Snyder unlocks it for a further 12 hours. He checks the voicemail but it was not set up. In the car Snyder complains about how Bosch has treated her, she just wants to be good detective. Bosch lets up and she explains the Black Guardian case was 4 cops word against 1 , there could be no other finding.
Bosch goes to Lt. Billets, he needs the key for the Task Force war room. Grace complains of her workload and being shorthanded. Bosch runs across Jerry in the washroom, the two greet each coolly. In the war room Robertson says Walker wants a personal update, Bosch sighs. The Harris address was empty, Pierce is getting a warrant to search Elias' condo, Bosch hints he was there already. Bosch tells Snyder to bring In Kaplan, Elias' aide and Lincoln to get all crime reports for Friday night.
Irving has a staff meeting to plan the night's vigil for Elias, he want police presence minimized but ready in case.
Bosch returns to Elias' office, Chandler has the correct address for Harris and they go together to the Westin Bonaventure.
Pierce asks Edgar for help with the cell phone, bored, Jerry agrees.
Harris is staying in a hotel room for two weeks, Bosch forces his way in. They settle Harris down and he tells his story. Cops thought he had something to do with a missing girl, he was beaten, head forced in a toilet, suffocated and a pencil pushed into his ear. Later the girl was found and the father was charged. Harris wonders if he can still get the $420k settlement, Elias was confident they would get 10x more.
Robertson and Pierce search the condo, the work files are still there but not the bedroom articles. Robertson finds Elias' car in the parking garage and notices a 2nd parking spot marked for suite 1205. The security desk gives him the license of the other car.
Snyder interviews Kaplan, who was involved with Martin Elias' possession arrest. Howard had wanted his son to bleed a bit this time. Kaplan stresses Elias didn't share his plans for the Harris trial and was a one-man band.
Jerry's wife Latonya calls him, happy his open house work got her an offer for asking price. He asks if she can come with the boys for pizza, she agrees.
Robertson knocks on the door of a nice house. The husband is puzzled as the wife asks to talk walking the dog. Pamela Duncan was Elias's jury expert, and was having an affaire with him. She doesn't think Elias' wife knows about it, nor does her husband. She says Martin Elias did know and had been sending her nasty texts. The Elias father and son had a big blow-up about it a week earlier. She also thinks Elias had recently " found religion" and was not just working for the money. Duncan wonders how her marriage will survive.
Eleanor drives Maddie home from the tournament. Maddie asks about the man at the games and Reggie; Eleanor is reticent, lies about Griffin and won't talk about Reggie. Maddie leaves the car angrily.
In the war room the team compares notes. The next day they will start going through the lists of RHD detectives to interview, including Terry Drake.
Chandler, walking across a street is almost hit by the KTK, she throws an f-bomb as he rides away to the peaceful Howard Elias vigil underway at the Angels Flight. He joins the crowd looking wary.
Harry goes to see Walker, tired and in no mood to talk. The two men skirt around the cold case comments Bosch had made.
Jerry brings pizza home, the wife and sons are there for a happy reunion.
Bosch goes home dead beat, he listens to Maddie complain about her mother, commiserates then falls asleep on the couch.
Eleanor goes to a dark, apparently closed, Chinese restaurant , a man lets her in as a card game is about to start. After a few hands the host tells everyone the game is over and to leave. Eleanor looks back as some Chinese men arrive and begin assaulting one of the card players. She sets her phone to video then rushes out. A man watches her leave.
