The Terminator franchise has spent the last thirty years chasing the high of the first two movies, and Linda Hamilton thinks it’s time to finally let it die.
Linda Hamilton starred in The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day as Sarah Connor and later returned for Terminator: Dark Fate, but she is not interested in reprising the role for any further potential reboots. “I’m done. I’m done. I have nothing more to say,” Hamilton told Business Insider. “The story’s been told, and it’s been done to death.“
Hamilton added: “Why anybody would relaunch it is a mystery to me. But I know our Hollywood world is built on relaunches right now.“
Related Linda Hamilton says Stranger Things season 5 will be filming for an entire year
Arnold Schwarzenegger shared a similar sentiment last year but believes that the franchise can continue, just not with his involvement.

Writing a feature film is easy. All you need is one gimmicky logline, as cheap and single-serving-disposable as a coffee pod from the complimentary hotel room K-Cup spinner. Once you stumble upon one of these so-called “high concept” ideas, the script practically writes, sells and produces itself. It’s creative work for stupid babies, as all filmmakers will surely agree–totally unlike, in other words, the act of conceptualizing an entire episodic series, a demonstration of storytelling virtuosity so complex and adult it straddles the border between ancient Euclidean geometry and New Age witchcraft.
Okay, so maybe that’s a little extreme. But for aspiring series creators and showrunners, structuring a workable, potentially long-running television concept requires imagination and problem-solving on both the micro- and macro- levels–a mastery of tone, plot and characterization across variable interlocking units of temporal storytelling: scenes, dramatic acts, full episodes, multi-episode arcs and complete seasons.

When Arnold Schwarzenegger delivered the now legendary line, "I'll be back," in 1984's "The Terminator," no one could have known how true that statement would prove to be. Arnie was indeed back, and back, and back, and back, and back again, proving that the only thing as relentless as the T-800 is Hollywood's desire to pump out sequel after sequel.
Thankfully, we at least got one classic of the action genre out of it: 1991's "Terminator 2: Judgment Day." After delivering a masterpiece of low-budget sci-fi filmmaking in '84, director James Cameron proved why he's the king of sequels with the 1991 follow-up. "T2" outdid its predecessor in almost every way, blending impeccable action set pieces with an overwhelming sense of doom that made the film linger in the mind long after viewing.

Hollywood has never really accepted that you can’t recapture lightning in a bottle. No matter how context-specific a blockbuster’s success was, you can always count on an executive to insist on making a follow-up even if that doesn’t make sense for the story. That being said, sequels aren’t always doomed to failure, and one of the most famous examples of this is James Cameron’s Terminator 2, a film that refused to do the same thing twice and became just as iconic as the original.
Naturally, Hollywood learned all of the wrong lessons from the success of T2, as most of its sequels would be repetitive cash-grabs simply reiterating on the same tired ideas of fate, time travel and robot assassins. The only real exception to this curse would be 2009’s controversial Terminator Salvation, a post-apocalyptic thriller that genuinely expands on the world of its source...

"Salvation comes in the blink of an eye." Lightfold, a new animation studio based in Atlanta, has unveiled the first official trailer for their debut short called Godspeed. This is the latest creation from the animation filmmaker behind the popular Final Space sci-fi series, and it involves yet another space adventure sci-fi story. Godspeed follows a young woman named Iris, voiced by Bryce Charles, and her adorable karaoke-bot sidekick named Bowie as they navigate the desolate landscape of their crumbling world (sounds lot like Earth once climate change ravages everything). She must survive a planet-ending storm in hopes of finding a message that will help her escape this place. The voice cast also features Troy Baker (The Last of Us), Claudia Black, Coty Galloway & Olan Rogers (both from Final Space), and a few surprises. As most readers know, we're big fans of any and everything sci-fi, which is why we're posting this trailer.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is crediting James Cameron with seeing the future.
During a recent Q&a with Arnold Schwarzenegger (via People magazine), he applauded Cameron’s 1984 film “Terminator” for predicting the rise of artificial intelligence. The actor shared that the plot of “Terminator” has essentially “become a reality” thanks to modern technology.
“Today, everyone is frightened of it, of where this is going to go,” Schwarzenegger said. “And in this movie, in ‘Terminator,’ we talk about the machines becoming self-aware and they take over.”
The “Fubar” star continued, “Now over the course of decades, it has become a reality. So it’s not any more fantasy or kind of futuristic. It is here today. And so this is the extraordinary writing of Jim Cameron.”
Schwarzenegger added of the “Titanic” Oscar winner, “He’s just such an extraordinary writer and he’s such an unbelievable director, this is again, one of those...

Although I’ve been a fan of stop-motion for years, the craft and artistry that goes into this particular animation technique continue to be a source of amazement for me. The tactile nature of the puppets, sets and props, combined with the attention and time that goes into it, means that when a director gets it right, they can be some of the most exciting works in the short film arena. Case in point: Joseph Wallace’s new film Salvation Has No Name, which not only made it to the elite cohort of short films on this year’s BAFTA longlist but also did the same for the 2022 BIFAs. A modern epic sporting a timeless aesthetic, Wallace returns to Dn with his most ambitious work yet, a film that was years in the making, but well worth the wait.

Linda Hamilton is taking back her initial assumption of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s acting ability on “The Terminator” set.
The actress revealed during Netflix’s three-part documentary “Arnold” (via Insider) that she had a “snotty definition” of what it meant to be an actor, one that professional bodybuilder Schwarzenegger didn’t fit into.
“By our snotty definition, Arnold was a poser, a bodybuilder pretending to be an actor,” Hamilton said. “But because I was curious, I went and stood off the sidelines watching Arnold, and I bought it. The physicality and the stiffness, and all of the things that he was implementing. I was like, ‘Ok, this might work.'”
She added that the film was “truly just another job,” and she had no idea it would become a franchise.
“I didn’t think that it was particularly greater than over scripts that I’d read. I mean, really clueless,” Hamilton said.

Avatar: The Way of Water is now available to rent and own on digital and while James Cameron has stated that he’s deep into the sequels, having already wrapped filming on the third film, the sci-fi auteur has also been dropping hints that he may try to squeeze in other projects in-between. Back in December, Cameron would talk about mourning the films he wouldn’t get to make as he’s committed to the Na’vi franchise. He’s also mentioned that he’s interested in pursuing a pet project about the story of the Hiroshima bombing before filming Avatar 4.
This past week, Cameron appeared as a guest speaker at the 2023 Dell Technologies World Conference. During his panel, he revealed to the audience that he had started writing a script for a new Terminator movie three months ago, according to a tweet from Roderick Mercado, a marketer for Microsoft at Dell Technologies.

During a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter that covered various topics, Arnold Schwarzenegger briefly spoke about two big time franchises that are synonymous with his name: Terminator and Conan the Barbarian. He’s done with one. But not the other.
“The franchise is not done. I’m done,” Schwarzenegger tells THR when speaking about the long-running Terminator franchise that he recently returned to for 2019’s Dark Fate.
The actor continues, “I got the message loud and clear that the world wants to move on with a different theme when it comes to The Terminator. Someone has to come up with a great idea. The Terminator was largely responsible for my success, so I always would look at it very fondly. The first three movies were great. Number four [Salvation] I was not in because I was governor. Then five [Genisys] and six [Dark Fate] didn’t close the deal as far as I’m concerned.

The Terminator is one of the biggest action franchises of all time, and Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s insistence that “I’ll be back” pretty much ensured he’d star in as many spinoffs and brand deals as he’d like. Still, it took the actor a while to warm up to his iconic catchphrase, which he initially thought sounded “stupid.”
Looking back on the franchise in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the Austrian body builder-turned-actor-turned-California governor revealed that he argued with Terminator director James Cameron about the line because he wasn’t comfortable pronouncing the contraction “I’ll.”
“I think it’s stronger to say, ‘I will be back,’” Schwarzenegger recalled. “Cameron said, ‘Are you the scriptwriter now? It’s just one word. Don’t tell me how to write. I don’t tell you how to act.’ I said, ‘You tell me how to act every fucking minute!

It's one of those projects that has floated around development limbo for years, but according to Arnold Schwarzenegger, the sequel to 1988 Ivan Reitman comedy Twins, known as Triplets, is currently sitting on the slush pile. And it's all thanks to Reitman's son, Jason.
As part of a sprawling career and life interview in The Hollywood Reporter, Schwarzenegger opens up about his disappointment with the movie, which would have reunited him with original co-star Danny DeVito and was to have also starred first Eddie Murphy then Tracy Morgan, with the elder Reitman back to direct. At least until his death, whereupon his filmmaker son decided not to move it forward.
"Jason Reitman fucked it up!" says Schwarzenegger. "Jason Reitman literally stopped the project when his father died. His father wanted to do it really badly. I wanted to do it really badly. Danny DeVito wanted to do it really badly. We had the financing.

The legendary Arnold Schwarzenegger won’t let age slow him down. The action icon is 75 years old but stays as motivated as he always has been. This motivation, which once led to his famous physique and an impressive Governor win, is why he will be seen in a new Netflix action comedy series, Fubar, a new introspective documentary, Arnold, a new action film Breakout, and a new self-help book, Be Useful: Seven Tools for Life. The Hollywood Reporter sits down with Schwarzenegger as he gets incredibly candid about his feelings on movies, politics, and his personal life.
One inevitable topic of discussion is Arnold’s future with the Terminator movies. When asked if the series was finished after the dismal reaction to Terminator: Dark Fate, Schwarzenegger feels the franchise will go on, but without him. “The franchise is not done. I’m done. There are a few ironclad certainties in the blockbuster business. Tom Cruise will keep taking absurd risks to constantly top the last major "Mission: Impossible" stunt or die in the attempt. The Rock will continue starring in jungle-themed movies wearing nothing but the exact same neutral-toned T-shirts and khakis until morale improves. And the "Terminator" franchise will simply never quit, despite years of sequels that were either commercial or critical flops -- or both.
The trajectory of the Arnold Schwarzenegger-starring franchise defies all conventions, having undeniably peaked with its first two films under director James Cameron before giving way to a seemingly never-ending series of diminishing returns in the decades since. Arnold Schwarzenegger had a ritual.
The “Austrian Oak” would stare at his naked body in the mirror as if he were a living work of art, a figure to be sculpted to perfection by lifting hundreds of pounds of iron in endless repetition. His goal was to shatter bodybuilding records and then become Hollywood’s biggest action star — and it worked. Now, decades later, when Schwarzenegger sees his 75-year-old body, what does he like about it? “Nothing!” Schwarzenegger says, smiling yet serious. “My whole life I look at the mirror and see the best-built man, and all of a sudden I see a bunch of crap. It’s terrible! You get these wrinkles under your eyes. You get wrinkles under your pecs. You see the fucking poodle!” The poodle? “Budle,” he corrects. “It’s Austrian for your stomach sticking out. Where the fuck did that come from? It’s not pleasurable.

This episode of Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie? was Written by Emilie Black, Narrated by Jason Hewlett, Edited by Ryan C, Produced by Lance Vlcek and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
The Crow series is a prime example of the sad but true happening of diminishing returns. While these are not 100% horror, they are often categorized as so and do contain a certain amount of horror elements. So if horror-adjacent is an issue, you’ve been warned. When it comes to the third entry in the series, well, it’s not exactly beloved. But it turns out it’s not the worst of the bunch, either. The Crow: Salvation (get it Here) didn’t do well upon release, didn’t exactly do well financially, and it’s not beloved by fans. Yet, something is interesting here, and it may be a lesson about filmmaking, timing, and taking risks.

HBO’s latest hit series The Last of Us now officially has a soundtrack for its first season, a massive, 66-song compilation of all the music scoring the post-apocalyptic tale. Check it out below.
After working on the original The Last of Us video game, composer Gustavo Santaolalla returns for the HBO series, joined by fellow artist David Fleming. In an upcoming interview with Consequence, Santaolalla describes his approach to the soundtrack, saying, “The process of adapting, it was more in a way like craftwork than actually a new creation, because the themes were there, those things are there, like the characters, it wasn’t about creating a new job, it wasn’t about finding what is interesting. For example, in seeing how Pascal and Bella, they’re different than the actors that played the voices, but at the same time, they keep the soul of the characters intact.”

For an actor, landing a role on a TV series provides steady work in a business in which employment is usually uncertain. If that show becomes a hit, then all bets are off, with the gig escalating to something more akin to winning the lottery thanks to instant celebrity and an often giant salary. Of course, the odds of being cast in a hit TV series can be just as improbable as hitting the jackpot, which is why it can seem puzzling when a star decides walk away from a hit show. Sometimes, it's because an actor has been fired for whatever reason, but on other occasions, the exit comes at the behest of the star, who makes the risky decision to leave a sure thing for an unknown future. For viewers who earn in a year what a TV star rakes in for one episode, this can cause head-scratching,...

It seems like the box office is slowly rebounding after a couple slower months, but this weekend, “Black Adam” won’t have much in terms of competition for the top spot, so it will score an easy second weekend at #1 probably with around 28 to 30 million or a little more. Read on for Gold Derby’s box office preview.
That doesn’t mean that there aren’t any new movies in wide release. In fact, there’s just one, and that’s Lionsgate’s much-delayed and name-changed horror flick “Prey for the Devil,” an exorcism horror drama directed by Daniel Stamm (“The Last Exorcism”). It stars Jacqueline Byers (“Salvation”) as Sister Ann, a rare female exorcist, who has to deal with a few cases of demonic possession. It also stars Virginia Madsen and Colin Salmon, both of whom have quite a bit of genre experience.

This Quantum Leap review contains spoilers.
Quantum Leap Episode 6
“What a Disaster,” the sixth installment of the Quantum Leap continuation series, carries extra baggage. First, the pilot switch: originally, Dr. Ben Song’s (Raymond Lee) leap to San Francisco was slated to be the focus of the pilot episode. Ben finds himself in the body of John Harvey, a middle-aged man decked out in high-waisted jeans, dad sneakers, and a windbreaker, who has just been asked by his wife, Naomi Harvey (Jewel Staite), for a divorce.
She’s taken him to a public spot to break the news: a bar in San Francisco filled with Giants and Athletics fans who are counting down the moments before the first pitch of the third game of the 1989 World Series. Even without the help of Addison or Ziggy, Ben quickly realizes they are in the epicenter of one of the strongest earthquakes in American history.

A deepening connection inspires her to let go of the others’ expectations and, instead, find the strength to embrace her true self.
Wattpad Webtoon Studios announced that production has wrapped on “Boot Camp” after filming began in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, earlier this month. The movie does not yet have distribution deals. “Boot Camp,” which currently has over 26 million reads on Wattpad, was developed with Great Pacific Media, December Films, Junction Hammer Productions and Channel Zero Studios.

Wut.
What a twist reveal to close out Quantum Leap Season 1 Episode 5, the campiest, most Care-Bear-meets-Magnificent-Seven homage of an offering so far this season. Mind go boom.
My brain's still spinning over the implications of the leaper who grabs Ben in the final scene. Seriously?
