i'm giving this episode a low rating, but for a different reason...

I know this is rated super low because of trump supporters, but that's not why i'm rating this episode low. i'm frustrated that they made schmidt a republican. paul ryan is an awful man (pro war, pro life, anti gay marriage etc) and it doesn't feel fitting to his character. just a strange plot.

We're not a democracy!

This episode was stupid. As much as I like Jess as a person, she's sweet and would do anything for her friends, it's truly terrifying that she is (fictionally) responsible for helping to raise future generations. What an idiotic thing to vote for someone because they're a female, especially after all the horrible things said candidate has done. Schmidt is the only level headed one in this whole episode.

The only saving grace of this episode was Winston and his ridiculous but charming antics. I love seeing him finally happy and thriving with someone who is as quirky as he is. He has grown as a character and it's always nice to see Ferguson.

2016: Superficial Edition

Warning: Spoilers
Now, I'm not saying that I would expect New Girl to be a master of political satire. However, the way they treat the election is just annoyingly unoriginal and simplistic to anyone paying even the slightest amount of attention to politics. Why? First you have the idea of campaigning for a Hillary in New York. It's a blue state. that makes no sense. Then you have Jess' whole spiel about Democracy. Again, not the US is not really a Democracy so voting in a safe state doesn't really matter at the Presidential level. Finally, (Spoiler I guess) the whole joke of the episode is that Jess energizes all these college students to go vote, and they turn out to be Trump supporters. That just seems like a missed opportunity. What if they instead turned to Jess and went after her from the left. "Why doesn't Mrs. Clinton want to help me with my student dept?" Would have been more serious, but politics is a serious topic (it is).

Funny

What is so funny is that with all the political push in entertainment Killary still lost. They episode itself was so pushed and they forced so much stuff. Show itself has been fine, this episode was just pushed.
