Tolstoy would approve. One of the best stories I have ever seen made successfully into a movie. It really is a story for all year, not just Christmas. it's based on the idea if you serve others, especially the downtrodden, you serve heaven. The tone, the textures, the place and time.... incredibly put together. I watched it twice yesterday, and now Lithuania is on my bucket list. Everyone needs to know about this film.

Want an easy and plain x-mas story, then watch this . it has it all,from young to old, the acting are truthful and beautiful, the music are so immersive and the outcome are rich..
winter thaw will be a tradition to watch for many people in the future

John Rhys Davies gives a magnificent portrayal of a lonely, repentant father longing to repair his past mistakes while searching for answers about his own mortality. A splendidly cast film, rich with pathos and hope. What we all need at Christmas and always!
