Kriti is a fine creation, pun intended
Peter_Young5 October 2023
Indeed, a great, great suspense thriller short which makes one with it had gone on for a little longer. A strong, taut script is enhanced by brilliant technical quality in terms of cinematography, editing, and sound. The short benefits from a growing momentum with each passing minute, and its efficacy is amplified by an excellent background score which grows with the narrative, mirroring the intensity of the proceedings. Obviously, the setting is exceptionally well crafted to create the right atmosphere which is creepy and sophisticated at the same time.

Manoj Bajpayee is excellent as one would expect, and the same is true for Radhika Apte. Apte in particular performs brilliantly as the mysterious psychiatrist. Neha Sharma is beautiful as Kriti, and Manu Rishi does well, too. The ambiguity of the script gives the actors freedom to perform. Kriti is a very engaging short overall. It offers a symbolic metaphor for the power of the imagination which can be destructive when not channeled in the right direction. The film concludes on an intriguing note, leaving the ending open to individual interpretation.

An extremely well produced movie on Multiple Personality Disorder

This short movie is extremely well produced with some great mainstream actors, but I always prefer small independent actors in my short films.

Anyway, Manoj Vajpayee is a great actor, nice choice by the director.

Plagiarism at its finest.

I was very excited about the movie until I found out that this movie was a complete rip off of a Nepalese short movie named BOB. The plot is the same, and heck the cinematography is same as well. The starting scene of showing the awards is same as the BOB. The dialogue about social media is same as the BOB. The starting scene with the doctor is the same. The killing of the main character girlfriend thinking it is fragment of his imagination is the same. Wow!The director and the whole movie staff should be ashamed for copying a movie and smooching the fame. Shame! What baffles me the most is the fact that the director Shrish Kunder has the audacity to deny these plagiarism charges. The movie BOB was uploaded in Vimeo almost a year before the movie Kriti. Like what the hell man? Being a professional director why would you go out of your way to stoop so low?

What is real? What isn't?

Warning: Spoilers
"Kriti" is a 19-minute short film from India that was released less than a year ago on Youtube and racked up millions and millions of views since then. It is definitely one of the more known works by writer and director Shirish Kunder. I cannot really say anything about the plagiarism allegation the other reviewer made, but I'll just rate this one from a cinematic perspective. There are basically 4 main characters in here: the man, his lover, his psychiatrist and a cop. So with the latter you guess correctly that there is indeed a crime relevance in here. And also a mystery aspect because the longer the film goes, the less it becomes obvious what is real and what is fiction just going on in the central character's head. So yeah these plot twists are at the center of the film all in all and sadly at the very end it is just getting too much and pretty unrealistic for such a short film. I also really hated the last shot, like taken from some bad horror movie. And why are the characters sometimes speaking English, sometimes Hindi, feels really random to be honest. Overall, the weak outweighs the strong here easily and I cannot recommend checking this one out. The best thing about it are probably the very attractive women, especially the actress who plays the title character.
