What makes the film formally interesting, though, is the separation of voice and image. Burstein’s reliance on audio recordings of Taylor made in 1964 and 1985 foregrounds her remarkable voice over her blinding beauty, seen in stills and film clips. After the tremendous revelation of all the superheroes and villains coming back and debuting through Deadpool & Wolverine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the latest reports are now suggesting that Channing Tatum’s Gambit will not only make his first live-action appearance through it but will also apparently fight a diabolical villain in the movie. But he won’t be alone through this.

As it seems, Jennifer Garner’s Elektra will be returning to the screens and joining the forces as well, and will reportedly be seen fighting side-by-side with Tatum’s mutant against this big bad. Then there are all the other superheroes reported to appear in the film, who are all expected to overpower this villain, who is none other than Cassandra Nova and her reported supervillain league.

Between the trailers and the various character cameos, we've been able to get a pretty good idea of the general premise of Deadpool and Wolverine, but it sounds like Marvel Studios has been keeping some fairly significant plot points out of the marketing.
Now, Zazzle.com has included a new synopsis with its range of tie-in products, and it reveals a few exciting new details about the Merc With a Mouth's MCU debut.
If you'd rather go in knowing as little as possible, here's your spoiler warning.
According to the breakdown, "Not only will [Deadpool and Wolverine] be working to defeat a range of villains plaguing the Marvel universe, bub, but they’ll be gate-crashing the MCU franchise, too, and putting their own R-rated, 20th Century Fox-styled twist on some of our favorite moments from Phases 1-4!"

Ryan Gosling isn’t just Ken anymore.
The Oscar nominee was up for Best Supporting Actor for his turn in Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie,” and also belted his “I’m Just Ken” ballad onstage during the 2024 Academy Awards.
Gosling, who moonlights as the Dead Man’s Bones frontman, rocked out to the Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt-penned song which became one of the many breakout anthems of the history-making blockbuster movie. Guitarist Slash from Guns N Roses accompanied Gosling for the live performance of the beloved “Barbie” track, along with fellow Ken “Barbie” actors Simu Liu, Ncuti Gatwa, and more, for a “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes”-inspired musical moment.
Fellow “Barbie” song “What Was I Made For?,” written by Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas, was also performed during the ceremony. “What Was I Made For?” went on to win the Oscar for Best Original Song.

It sounds like Daniel Day-Lewis is serious about his retirement from acting and won’t be returning, at least according to his longtime director Jim Sheridan. The Irish filmmaker directed three of Day-Lewis’ most prominent films: “My Left Foot” (1989), “In the Name of the Father” (1993) and “The Boxer” (1997). Day-Lewis won the Oscar for best actor with “My Left Foot” and was also nominated for “In the Name of the Father.”
“He says he’s done. I keep talking to him,” Sheridan told ScreenDaily on the topic of Day-Lewis staying retired. “I’d love to do something with him again. He’s like everybody else. He opens up the streamers and there’s seven thousand choices, none of them are good. Film has been moved out of the public domain into a private domain – you have a remote, you can stop it. The K-drama world has been taken by the storm that is Netflix’s My Demon. The show is the perfect blend of old-school fantasy tropes and modern K-drama trends, making it exactly right for both old fans and new ones. Many called 2023 the year of K-drama redemption thanks to shows like My Demon, which are loved by all. I suppose it is true in some ways because many who had stopped watching Korean dramas started watching them again because of a sense of nostalgia and fun that the new shows brought with them. Netflix has in many ways hijacked the industry, and for the most part, they have a specific type of K-dramas that work on the platform; however, in 2023, we’ve seen them bring in more and more shows in the Netflix original category that venture into the typical K-drama atmosphere. My Demon is reminiscent of the old fantasy...

Sofia Coppola's "Priscilla," which focuses on Priscilla Presley's life with Elvis Presley, is very accurate to Priscilla's memoir on which its based. But watching the movie, which stars Cailee Spaeny as Priscilla and "Euphoria"'s Jacob Elordi as Elvis, you might be a little jarred by the height difference between Elvis and Priscilla in the film. Elordi's Elvis is really, really tall, especially compared to Spaeny's Priscilla. In a way, their height difference works well with the themes of the film, which is about, in part, how young Priscilla was when they first met (just 14 to Elvis's 24) and how out of her depth she was living in Elvis's world as a teenager.
So we did some investigation. Ahead, we're breaking down Elvis and Priscilla's real height difference, Elordi and Speaney's, and - just for fun - the height difference of the stars of 2022's "Elvis."
How Tall Was Elvis Presley?...

Everyone in the business knows that CEOs at big media and entertainment companies get lavish pay packages: nearly always eight figures, and sometimes nine if there’s a big deal involved (like Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos’ $38 million haul last year, or Wbd CEO David Zaslav’s infamous $246 million haul in 2021).
Their compensation has been scrutinized amid the strikes — but beyond the hefty salaries, lucrative bonuses and stock options, most top executives also get their fair share of perquisites (ya know, “perks”). Some are standard (CEOs get access to company health insurance plans, too! And they also get their 401(k) contributions matched!), but there are others that, well, are unlike anything their employees would expect to see in their W-2s.

If you're wondering if actors Josephine and Katherine Langford are related, the answer is a resounding yes! The Australian stars have both had major breakout roles in the past few years, and they're actually sisters who grew up together in Perth before heading to Hollywood.
Both sisters hit the big time by starring in a breakout teen/young-adult dramas: Katherine was the original protagonist of the Netflix drama "13 Reasons Why," and Josephine stars in the romantic-drama movie franchise After. More recently, Katherine starred in the Australian crime drama "Savage River," and Josephine is set to star in the romantic comedy "The Other Zoey," out Oct. 20.
Despite being in the same industry, the sisters apparently generally keep their professional lives out of their personal relationship. In a March 2019 interview with V magazine, Josephine revealed that she hadn't really asked her sister for advice at the start of her career. "I...

Sofia Coppola told the Wall Street Journal that her “Priscilla” budget was so “strained” at times that she thought of raffling off a pickleball game with her star Jacob Elordi in order to raise funds for additional shooting days. “Euphoria” alum Elordi plays Elvis Presley in the film opposite Cailee Spaeny in the title role. Spaeny won best actress honors at the Venice Film Festival for her performance.
“He can play pickleball,” Coppola said of Elordi. “Our budget was always strained, low budget, and I was like, ‘I wonder if I could raffle off a pickleball game with Jacob to raise money to get one more day of shooting.’ We didn’t, but he was a good sport. He indulged me, even though he’s not an enthusiast. I think he associates it with, like, Malibu moms.”

Kirsten Dunst handpicked Cailee Spaeny to lead Sofia Coppola’s “Priscilla,” as Coppola revealed in a new W magazine cover story.
Dunst, who has collaborated with Coppola in “The Virgin Suicides,” Marie Antoinette,” and “The Beguiled,” worked with “Mare of Easttown” breakout actress Spaeny in upcoming Alex Garland film “Civil War.” Dunst recommended that Coppola meet with Spaeny to offer her the role of Priscilla Presley in the A24 biopic “Priscilla.”
“Kirsten is like a sister to me, and when she recommended Cailee, I paid attention,” Coppola said. She offered the role to Spaeny during their first meeting over breakfast.
Spaney recalled how Dunst “passed the torch” to her by recommending the casting. Spaeny co-stars alongside Jacob Elordi, who plays Elvis in the Coppola A24 film.

Snoop Dogg's wife, Shante Broadus, may be a little less well-known than her famous husband, but she's an accomplished woman in her own right. Broadus and Snoop share three kids and have been together since they were classmates at Long Beach Polytechnic High School. "I had to go over there and meet her mother," Snoop told VladTV back in 2018, recalling their courtship. "I had to go over there and date her for, like, four months before I was able to kiss her. I had to call her on the phone. I had to write love letters."
Broadus is the founder of Boss Lady Entertainment, which is, among other things, a label and a recording studio management company. In 2021, Broadus officially became Snoop's manager, overseeing all of her husband's businesses, from his cannabis line to his music, TV, and film projects, though that's a role she's held in an unofficial capacity for much longer.

Wedding bells are ringing for Dylan Sprouse and Barbara Palvin! After much speculation, the couple confirmed their engagement in an interview with V magazine published on June 15. The pair first sparked engagement rumors in March when the 29-year-old model was spotted wearing a stunning diamond ring on that finger at the Mammoth Film Festival in photos obtained by J-14. In the interview, Sprouse and Palvin revealed they had actually gotten engaged back in September 2022. Sprouse had also been holding on to the engagement ring for seven months prior to popping the question.
"We didn't necessarily feel the need to be fully transparent with the public about that aspect of our engagement," Sprouse said of the decision to keep the engagement private for some time. Palvin added, "We just want to do it on our time. When some people leaked the information that we got engaged, our PR team was like,...

In HBO’s controversial new series “The Idol,” Lily-Rose Depp plays a young pop phenom who falls for a self-help guru and modern day cult leader named Tedros (played by Abel “the Weeknd” Tesfaye). Depp recently told Entertainment Weekly that no one in “The Idol” cast went “full Method [actor],” but that doesn’t mean some of them didn’t go at least half. Or that what it sounds like, at least.
“I don’t think anybody went full method — nobody lost their minds,” Depp said. “Well, sometimes when Abel would get — I don’t want to reveal too much about where Abel’s character goes, but when he would be in full Tedros mode sometimes, I would steer clear of him. I’d be like, ‘He’s in his zone right now.'”

Abel "The Weeknd" Tesfaye is making his first foray into television with HBO's "The Idol." While the series has yet to premiere, it's already received a lot of criticism following director Amy Seimetz's exit and a Rolling Stone article that detailed allegations of a hostile workplace environment, which A24, HBO, and the show's cast and crew have denied.
In the wake of Seimetz's departure, "Euphoria" creator Sam Levinson stepped in to replace her and the series underwent significant reshoots. In an effort to keep costs low during those reshoots, Tesfaye lent his personal home in Bel Air, Los Angeles, to the show after a conversation with Levinson. "Quitting the show wasn't an option for Abel or me. It was a dream that we had together, and we had to see it through," Levinson told W magazine in May. Award-winning musician Abel Tesfaye, known professionally as The Weeknd, has begun the process of slowly shedding his stage name. The singer has now changed his social media platforms to reflect his birth name.
“I’m going through a cathartic path right now,” Tesfaye told W magazine earlier this month. “It’s getting to a place and a time where I’m getting ready to close The Weeknd chapter. I’ll still make music, maybe as Abel, maybe as The Weeknd. But I still want to kill The Weeknd. And I will. Eventually. I’m definitely trying to shed that skin and be reborn.”

Though she is expecting to be “running around like a rabbit in the headlights” during this year’s Cannes Film Festival, Poppy Delevingne has a pretty peaceful vibe about her while discussing her French Riviera schedule.
The actress, model and entrepreneur is back in Cannes as an ambassador for luxury jeweler Chopard so her itinerary is jammed with red carpet appearances and events. But she’ll also be squeezing in some project-related meetings and likely some handshaking as Delevingne has a film hitting the Cannes Market courtesy of Rohit Karn Batra’s timely tale The Gun on Second Street. Ahead of hitting the Croisette, The Hollywood Reporter caught up with Delevingne to talk all things Cannes, travel must-haves and the newest plans for her prosecco brand Della Vite.

The Weeknd says that he chose to reshoot his The Idol to adhere to the same standards he has for his music, but it came at a cost to his “health and home.”
The singer, real name Abel Tesfaye, along with the HBO series director Sam Levinson and co-star Lily-Rose Depp, spoke about the upcoming show in a new cover story for W magazine, which published Monday. In it, Tesfaye addresses his musical future as The Weeknd, what was behind that canceled SoFi concert, and why he’ll be Ok if his new headline-grabbing series is “fucking horrible.”
While discussing the show, which first got its series order back in November 2021, Tesfaye briefly explained his decision to do those now infamous reshoots, which have seen members of the production, including Depp, defend the HBO show against reports of alleged on-set turmoil.
“Film and TV is a new creative muscle for me.

Maryland rapper redveil has readied a new EP titled playing w/ fire. The project arrives April 19th, and as a preview, the artist has enlisted Jpegmafia for the song “black enuff.”
redveil has released a steady stream of material in recent years, including last year’s LP learn 2 swim. Still, the artist took a different approach for playing w/ fire, opting to write songs that would capture the energy of his live concerts. “I just wanted to make a bunch of songs to play at shows,” he said in a statement. “That meant playing w/ fire had to have more hooks and crazier drops. I just wanted a blast of energy throughout each song.”
Defiantly confident, “black enuff” hints at the EP’s dynamic energy by pairing blown out electronic percussion with heavy-hitting live drums and screeching horns. “Who told that Black boy to hate himself?/ Who told my sister...

In September, Sunset Tower maître d’ Gabé Doppelt informed the staff that with hotelier Jeff Klein’s blessing, she would soon be departing her post at the industry power spot in favor of a new gig at Klein’s members-only club, San Vicente Bungalows.
The job change comes as Klein pushes forward with expansion plans for Svb, first in Santa Monica and later in New York City, with Doppelt on board to help navigate the two new outposts.
Per two sources, Klein and company are close to finalizing an address for their Westside location. If all goes according to plan, Svb Santa Monica will take over the third floor and rooftop of the building that houses Water Grill, located on Ocean Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard, with covetable ocean views.
THR reached out to a San Vicente Bungalows rep and Klein for confirmation, and they had no comment.

Change is in the air at one of Hollywood’s preferred stomping grounds.
Gabé Doppelt, who officially replaced Dimitri Dimitrov as Sunset Tower’s resident and beloved maître d’ in October 2018 following a year and a half apprenticeship, is preparing to bid adieu to the iconic property and join hotelier Jeff Klein’s other industry hotspot, San Vicente Bungalows.
Doppelt informed Sunset Tower staff of the job change last Wednesday evening with plenty of warning to let it sink in. Beginning in March 2023, after awards season is over and all the gold has been handed out, Doppelt will segue to San Vincente Bungalows where she’ll focus on membership at the private club.
Per Klein and Doppelt, the move will be part-time at first as she will split focus by training her replacement while also learning the membership world in advance of San Vicente Bungalows’ planned expansion.
