- Bosch learns more about the dark past and murder of Billy Meadows. The credibility of a key witness threatens to undermine the Holland case. Edgar maneuvers to handle damning evidence. Dangerous men target Bosch.
- Harry goes to the parking garage to retrieve his spy camera, then enters Gunn's apartment. He curses when he finds the smoke detector camera is missing. Bosch ignores the owl. He curses again back in the office when he reviews the evidence list take from Gunn's apartment, there is no record of a spycam.
Jerry is at the crime lab with the spycam, he asks the tech for fingerprints and source, the man agrees to do it off the books.
Bosch talks to a narc about Meadows. The cop says Meadows was bitter at being mistreated by the Army and his former pals.
Robertson and his partner interview Gunn's sister. She denies he was a rapist, Bosch had misunderstood the whole thing. She says Bosch hounded her brother for years.
Chief Irving visits his empty house, moving boxes are scattered around. Connie his ex-wife brings a box of old photos. She lets him take whatever else he wants. Irving hints he may be relocating for another job, she replies LA is in his blood.
Edgar and Bosch look at Meadow's Army Unit Facebook page. His team leader was a Capt. Trevor Dobbs. Dobbs now runs a private security firm. The two split up as Jerry says he wants to do more internet research.
Ffolkes and Rudy Tafero discuss Bosch and the case. They also discuss options to deal with Annabelle Crowe, the blonde witness. Tafero will look for some leverage.
Bosch arrives at Dobbs ' house. Harry breaks the news about Billy Meadows, Dobbs is surprised and upset. Bosch brings up the Iraq and Afghan missions, Meadows apparently got into drugs to handle the stress. Dobbs had tried to help Meadows out as a civilian but gave up. Dobbs then says he has a successful business but can't explain more due to security clearance.
Bosch then goes to Charlie Company, a help centre for vets. The counsellor knew Meadows and provides a lead on a girlfriend, but any other info will require a warrant.
Edgar gets a call from a reporter, the paper is running a story on Gunn and looking for a reaction from Bosch, the deadline is at 6 pm.
Bosch and Benitez get dressed after sex, Anita wants to get together with Maddie on the weekend.
Harry has takeout Chinese for Maddie. Outside a man sitting in a car listens to the two chat over dinner.
Patrol cops take Sharkey in for questioning.
Bosch and Edgar go to see a Helen Archer, working In a green grocer. She tells what she knows about Meadows, they were just pals. She thought he was going back overseas as a private military contractor. Helen said a friend named Woody was leading him on, but Billy was pretty messed up.
At Rampart Station Bosch is led to the interview room to see Sharkey. Harry shows photos of the Meadows murder scene and asks why the young man had stopped tagging.
Irving arranges a job interview.
Sharkey explains about the black SUV arriving after midnite, but was hiding too far away to see anything. Harry then shows a photo of Meadow's army team but Sharkey doesn't recognize anyone. Sharkey also denies entering the RV. Harry sighs and leaves the room.
Ex-soldiers Woody and Xavi practice long range shooting for their boss Dobbs in the desert.
Bosch drives Sharkey back, he makes small talk of his own time in the youth home, and leaves the teen his business card.
In the desert, Woody reports on his surveillance of Bosch, he says there are only boring family conversations with his daughter, Bosch shouldn't be a problem. Dobbs warns the two not to underestimate Bosch. Dobbs says to keep watching Bosch.
Bosch arrives in the office, Crate and Barrell read out the news item on Gunn, Bosch is referred to. No one knows where Jerry Edgar is. Capt. Lewis orders Bosch to roll down his sleeves to hide his tattoos.
Edgar is talking to an art expert about Hieronymous Bosch and the Garden of Earthly Delights. The famous art work has an owl pictured.
Bosch talks to FBI Agent Luke Goshen. Harry wants info on PMCs overseas. Goshen says they are used as semiofficial troops, he takes some info on Dobbs' unit and will look into it.
Edgar then talks to Harry's old partner from the original Gunn arrest. Jerry wonders if Harry pushed the limit too far but the other detective says Bosch was just doing his job.
Harry Googles Annabelle Crowe and discovers she is an escort. He makes an appointment with her. Annabelle, as her alter ego Leah Camile, enters a Range Rover.
Jerry updates Lt. Billets at a coffee shop, he lets her know about the spycam. She urges him to talk to Harry to get his story.
Annabelle/Leah arrives at a hotel room, Rudy Tafero is there under an assumed name.
Harry lets Benitez know about Annabelle, she is angry. Harry has no time for their afternoon date, Anita seems extra peeved.
Harry calls Edgar to let him know he is going to take Sharkey to the murder scene. Jerry reports he found a Woody Woodrow in Venice, one of Billy Meadows' former teammates.
The bicycle riding man shoots a woman in Koreatown, then steals the woman's car.
Sharkey is missing from the shelter, Woody watches Bosch from a tailing car.
Irving arrives at the murder scene, it looks like a repeat from a year before, the KoreaTown Killer, KTK. He enters the house of the distraught parents. A police community relations translator, Jun Park, is there to help.
Harry talks to the Bail Bondsman who arranged Gunn's release from jail. A young unknown woman paid cash for the bail early that morning.
Det. Robertson interviews the barmaid who had Gunn arrested for pissing on the jukebox that night. She says a big guy looking like a cop had been buying Gunn drinks.
Woody is staking out Harry's house again and lights a joint. Harry sees the small light and goes out his side door. He sneaks up on Woody's car but is noticed, Woody drives off quickly as Harry calls in an air ship and follows in his own car. A helicopter joins the chase. Woody manages to escape by switching cars at a parking garage, Harry is left perplexed. Back home he checks in on a sleeping Maddie.
