Now, Sophie lives in Madame De Fleurville's castle.Deprived of food by her wicked stepmother Madame Fichini, she cannot realize she will be able to eat her fill in her new place.She becomes bulimic, stuffs herself with blackcurrant and she gets indigestion.Bedridden ,she cannot go and pick cherries with her friends .When they return, Marguerite ,Camille and Madeleine want to make jam for a poor woman.Sophie says it's too good for such a wretch.It starts a quarrel with Marguerite and Sophie tramples on the cherries.Madame De Fleurville punishes her and asks her to write why she has been so selfish.Sophie does not want to obey and tears the paper to pieces .At night she dreams of her late mother who shows her the straight and narrow.In the morning,she apologizes to Madame De Fleurville .
