Honest and real

My main complaint is this is too short.

A young man, Jamie (Sebastian Christophers), at home with his family for someone's birthday, gets a message from someone he's been chatting with online (never met). We can sense the urgent need and desire to get out of the house and connect with another man.

He goes to town and waits. No one shows up at first. He keeps checking his phone and looking around. And then the other man shows up. Ben (Raphael Verrion). Is there a spark between them? Could there eventually be a spark between them?

They share some stories about themselves, although it seems mainly to come from Jamie's side. How he had strong feelings for a boy at school, John, and then one day they boldly kissed. Other boys saw them and laughed and joked. John bolted and that was the end of it. And in fact, it seems that Jamie has had no other experience with men... until perhaps today.

I don't want to spoil the end, which is very powerful, so I will leave this here. Just to say that the performances in this short film rang true and anyone who has been isolated or ostracized will understand the character of Jamie well.

Really well done, simple and powerful. I look forward to seeing everything that writer/director Christopher Manning does.

a blind date

The emotion is the basic trait of this beautiful short film. A film about loneliness and need of the other. Confessions about past. Good cinematography. The right story. And gentle way for say it. A film about vulnerability and courage. Precious for the wise portrait of a young man looking for himself.
