An Excellent Short Christmas Themed Short From CryptTV.
meddlecore23 November 2022
Milk & Cookies is a two minute long short film produced by CryptTV.

CryptTV is a company that focuses on the production of horror films in the digital sphere, with a particular focus on creating monsters, that feature in a series of vignettes, which link together in a shared universe.

It was created by Jack Davis and Eli Roth (Cabin Fever; Hostel), with backing from Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity; Insidious) and his Blumhouse production company.

This allows them to partner established effects artists and actors with new writers and directors, to create some solid digital horror content, of which Milk & Cookies is a fine example.

This film- though only two minutes long- is really quite entertaining.

With it seeming to act as an homage to one of the earliest Christmas-themed horror shorts, A Christmas Treat, by Timothy Michael Sullivan.

As the story is effectively the same, with a young girl being warned not to wake up in the middle of the night, to eat the milk and cookies.

Because, when she does...she happens upon what she thinks is Santa...only to discover it is actually a monstrous beast.

The creature effects here are notably better, however.

With the monster being some sort of beaked, grinch-like beast...who devours the young girl...before murdering her father.

The father being played by Sean Whalen (Twister; Superstore), who is a rather recognizable face, for such a feature.

For such a short short film...it's honestly really quite enjoyable to watch.

And makes me stoked to watch the follow up to this, called Milk & Cookies: Walter's Revenge.

6 out of 10.
