Andy Samberg and Jean Smart have teamed up for a unique May-December romantic comedy titled 42.6 Years, which is in development at Amazon Studios.
Craig Gillespie, the filmmaker behind Cruella and I, Tonya, is on board to direct the feature.
Samberg came up with the original idea and co-wrote the story with Seth Reiss, a writer on Late Night With Seth Meyers who is coming off a WGA Award nomination for The Menu. Reiss then wrote the script, which landed on the 2022 Black List.
The story centers on a young man (Samberg) who, in order to save his life, undergoes an experimental procedure in which he’s cryogenically frozen. When he wakes up 42.6 years later, physically unchanged thanks to being frozen, he finds himself alone in a future with no one to turn to but his ex-girlfriend, who is now much older than him (and played by Smart).

Comedy Central’s latest development slate is diverse in more ways than one.
Not only has the cable network put together several new series with performers of color at the center, but the three shows picked up Tuesday by Comedy Central are all very different.
Ordered to series are the stand-up/musical show “The New Negroes,” the comedy game show “Taskmaster” and the scripted comedy “Corporate.” In development are shows from creators including Awkwafina, Neal Brennan, Arturo Castro, Franchesca Ramsey, Noël Wells and Flint Wainess, among others.
“The network when I got here was pretty traditionally targeted toward young white guys, both in terms of who the audience was and who was creating the shows for the audience,” said Comedy Central president Kent Alterman. “We started changing that a few years ago by expanding that into having funny women on the network, with Amy Schumer and Broad City and a lot more since.

“Party Over Here,” Fox’s new late-night sketch-comedy show, took on the issue of gender inequality in Hollywood on Saturday night. To go by what Nicole Byer, Alison Rich and Jessica McKenna had to say, it’s all a matter of keeping up appearances. The show stars took the stage and explained everything. “As women in comedy,” Rich said, “we’ve been getting a lot of questions about how we broke the glass ceiling and got our own TV show.” The reason was simple. Byer said: “We showed up to all our network meetings dressed like this.” The trio then introduced a backdrop of a.

Stars Nicole Byer, Jessica McKenna and Alison Rich asked fans to recite: “I will commit my life to ‘Party Over Here.’ I shall chuckle when called upon to chuckle … I pledge my honor to ‘Party Over Here’ for this show and all the shows to come.” Trump, the Gop frontrunner for his party’s nomination for the presidency, recently asked supporters to take a pledge to vote for him. Near the start of the debut episode of their sketch show “Party Over Here,” stars Nicole Byer, Jessica McKenna and Alison Rich appear on stage in front of a studio audience, proudly announcing the kickoff of their 25th season. It may be the funniest joke of the premiere — not because it’s a particularly hilarious bit but because it’s hard to imagine viewers giving this meager series that long of a run. Only mildly amusing and tending toward broad, obvious gags, this Fox late-night program, which is executive produced by the Lonely Island, could develop and grow in confidence over time.

In a promo for Fox’s new sketch comedy program Party Over Here, executive producer Paul Scheer (The League) says he wanted to create a show “that felt like the live comedy that’s going on in New York.” Co-creator Andy Samberg probably should have informed him that there’s already a show like that, and Ariana Grande is currently hosting.
