Glenn Danzig is well aware that his fans sometimes call him “Evil Elvis.” “That’s fine,” he says with a laugh. “Anytime someone mentions my name and Elvis’ name in the same sentence, that’s great. It doesn’t get better than that.”
Danzig’s love for the King has been well documented over the years, as he’s covered Presley tracks going back to the early days of his pioneering punk group the Misfits. He famously included an ultra-metallic take on Presley’s King Creole track “Trouble” (“I’m evil,...

Although Elisabeth Moss was a teen in the Nineties, she never paid much attention to grunge or punk. “I just wasn’t cool enough,” she says with a laugh. “I grew up on classical, jazz and blues, and I was a ballet dancer. I was definitely more [into] Britney Spears.” In the past year or so, though, when she wasn’t filming The Handmaid’s Tale, she was immersed herself in the worlds of L7, Bikini Kill and Nirvana, as she prepared to portray an unhinged, fictional punk singer from the...

Steve Ross C'mon and Hear: An Irving Berlin July 4th Celebration Birdland Jazz Club, NYC June 26, 2016
In a letter to Alexander Woollcott, Jerome Kern wrote that "Irving Berlin has no place in American Music… He is American Music." What better person to present the art of Irving Berlin than venerable singer and pianist Steve Ross, who presented this great American composer's work in a sterling evening entitled C'mon and Hear: An Irving Berlin July 4th Celebration, at the historical Birdland Jazz Club on Manhattan’s West 44th Street, where he shared the stage with seasoned bassist Jered Egan.
Steve deeply understands the art behind Berlin's voluminous body of work, in a manner unique to himself. His renderings of both well-known, lesser known, and even obscure Berlin songs are historically astute and performed in an exceedingly skillful manner which is at once serious and at the same time carefree. The word...

Out April 13, 2017 in Italian theatres, Francesco Amato’s comedy sees the Neapolitan actor playing the role of a rigid psychoanalyst who winds up in trouble
by Camillo De Marco from Cineuropa.org
Toni Servillo in “Let Yourself Go!”
Toni Servillo in a comic role? Yes it is possible, and happens in “Let Yourself Go”/ “Lasciati andare” by Francesco Amato (“Cosimo and Nicole”), in theatres as of today with 01 Distribution. With a beard and glasses à la Sigmund Freud, Servillo plays a psychoanalyst who lives and works in the Roman ghetto, a beautiful neighbourhood in the historic city centre which is rarely used in films. Separated from his wife Giovanna (played by a Carla Signoris on top form) — but with a very thin wall separating their respective bedrooms — Dr. Elia Venezia lives a methodical and rather self-centered existence, livened up only by the weirdness of some of his clients, until one...
