Now I Know What You Did Last Summer (2008)
*** (out of 4)
This 27 minute documentary on the making of I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER features interviews with director Jim Gillespie, writer Kevin Williamson, two of the producers as well as archival interviews with Jennifer Love Hewitt and Anne Heche. We start off talking about the Lois Duncan story that this is based on and then we hear about the writing of the screenplay, getting the film through pre-production and we also hear about the casting. Overall this is a pretty typical promotional piece where we hear how great everyone was and how the overall experience was just the greatest thing on Earth. There's certainly nothing ground-breaking about this piece but for die-hard fans of the series they should enjoy what stories are here. The director talks about why he didn't want any gore in the picture. Williamson talks about what he wanted to bring to the story. The biggest disappointment is the fact that so many of the cast members aren't interviewed but overall this is slightly entertaining.
