“All the Flowers” is the second telenovela to be produced for Globo’s platform, Globoplay, continuing one of the biggest bets on streaming of a Latin America cosplay, seen it its bullish campaign for “Hidden Truths II.”
As the streaming era slowly enters a market maturity, Latin America’s biggest media company has set its aims on becoming a media tech giant. It will stilll, however, produce original telenovelas. The show created by João Emanuel Carneiro, creator of Globo’s ratings and sales phenom “Brazil Avenue” – has been one of the highlights at LA Screenings Independents alongside Globplay original series “The Others.”
Soon available on TelevisaUnivision’s fremium streaming service ViX, the series written by Vincent Villari, Eliane Garcia and Daisy Chaves follows Maíra (Sophie Charlotte) a visual impaired perfumer. After being visited by a long absent mother with no good intentions and her sister (played by a wonderfully mischievous...

The world over, major broadcasters are faced by the same issue: How to the make series that have a SVOD edge for their fast-growing in-house Ott platforms without alienating a free-to-air audience – which is often already accustomed to global platform fare.
Bowing at Mipcom, “Sisi” was one answer, from German TV giant, Rtl Group. Globo’s “Hidden Truths II,” from Latin America’s biggest TV company, is another.
Bowing its first 10 episodes on SVOD/AVOD platform Globoplay on Oct. 20, its first week near 9 million viewership hours decimated records for the biggest Brazilian Ott platform, proving four times that of Globoplay’s prior biggest release, “Grey’s Anatomy.”
Celebrating an online Buyers World Premiere on Nov. 5, to roll out international sales the second season will now look to build on large IP – 2015’s original “Hidden Truths” opened in over 75 countries – and an unprecedented marketing campaign.

Winner Takes All. Maybe the biggest trend at this year’s Mipcom, judged by titles on show and announcements – think Rtl/Beta’s “Sisi,” the Alliance’s “Around the World in 80 Days” or Vis’ just-announced “Bosé” – was the move into big high-end event series based on big big IP.
The Hollywood studios have been doing this for years of course. Now, when it comes to bringing blockbusters onto the open market, it’s largely the turn of the the world’s big independents. Brazil’s Globo, Latin America’s biggest media company, is no exception. On Oct. 20, in a milestone move, it will bow the first 10 episodes of “Hidden Truths II,” its biggest 2021 scripted play.
It’s the second season of a jewel in Globo’s modern crown. Airing from 11 p.m. on TV Globo, the group’s main free-to-air channel, from June to September 2015, “Hidden Truths” hit massive...

Brazilian network giant Globo has presented at MipTV part of its programming strategy for the future as it is still ravaged by the Covid-19 pandemic hitting a peak of 4,200 deaths in one day this week. Strenuous as the new health and security protocols have been for the entire industry – the production slow down is clear from Globo’s slate- the media and ever more technology giant has still much to show off as its content and premium SVOD platform Globoplay evolve in line with key trends shaping the market and indeed society at large. Two takes on Globo’s MipTV lineup:
Drilling Down on Gender Issues
Globo’s MipTV slogan “The future is female” was born out by both its drama and factual lineup. Gender issue dramas have become a staple of the Brazilian network in the past few years with “A Woman’s Fate” being the latest addition to...

Brazilian TV major Globo entered the streaming battlefield in 2015 with the launch of Globoplay, its dedicated VOD service that combines the broadcaster’s hugely popular telenovelas with original high-end drama, sports, and international content including shows from the U.S. majors.
The service has since expanded into the U.S. market, primarily catering to Brazilian expatriates, and the plan is to further grow internationally in 2021. Deadline caught up with the company’s California-based Director of Digital, Erick Bretas, who oversees all online operations at Globo including Globoplay, to discuss plans for the coming year.
Bretas reveals that the streaming platform should be available across Europe by the end of the year, though it will continue to be laser-focused on its Brazilian audience. The originals strategy is ramping up with 82 shows now shooting or in development, but the pandemic remains a challenge to production.

The International Emmy Awards held their 44th ceremony last night at the New York Hilton — the same venue that hosted Donald Trump’s victory party on Election Night. Host Alan Cumming pointed out that odd coincidence at the beginning of the festivities: “Oh, how quickly darkness and despair can fall,” he said. “I feel it is my moral obligation to inform you: This hall was the venue for one of the darkest, most destructive moments in our history.” Not exactly the most cheerful note to open an awards gala on, but alas. Find a full list of winners below.

Does it get any hotter? Brazilian model and Victoria's Secret Angel Alessandra Ambrosio is completely nude for some wild and hot sex scenes in homeland telenovela Verdades Secretas. Ambrosio's forte is strutting down the catwalk, but now she's trying her hand at acting. The model-turned-actress has made cameo appearances on shows like How I Met Your Mother and Entourage, but this is her first full-time acting gig. What's not changing with the new job, however, is Alessandra showing off her sexy body. This time we're seeing her without the lingerie, though. The hottie is on the verge of perhaps a big acting career. She's not stopping with this one...
