Great Educational Movie

This movie has helped me learn how population can affect the world in many ways. It has taught the benefits of population growth and the harm population growth could cause. Though the growing population of humans in the world seems normal, it is actually causing a lot of harm to the world. There are people in the world trying to fix the problems and there are others who simply just ignore it. When the human population first began, nobody thought of a growing population as a bad thing, in fact, it was a good thing. But as the population continued to grow larger and larger, we began to notice the changes it had on the Earth. In the year 1800, the human population finally reached 1 billion. With the Industrial Revolution in the 1800s, everything changed and the human population started to grow much faster than it was before. In a little more than 100 years, the human population reached 2 billion. And as the years went on, the faster the human population grew and will continue to grow faster and faster. Most of the population growth was happening in the less developed countries, where the fertility rate was really high. In the less developed countries, there was no family planning because of lack of education, which caused many of the families in these countries to have large amounts of children. But today, the most common family size is 2 children per family. The change in the large family sizes to the small family sizes is because in the less developed countries, they are finally having all children to be educated. The government is paying the families to send their daughters to schoolsIn the schools they are now teaching all the girls the importance of family planning and why large families are bad. Large families are worse than small families because larger families tend to consume more resources than smaller families. Another factor of the lower fertility rates is the dramatic improvement in child survival due to the improvements in technology. The change in the sizes of families is one of the most important things that has happened population wise because it has helped slow down the human population growth. With the exponential growth of the human population, our resources are just not enough. We are burning away at the amount of resources that the Earth provides us with without a care as long as we get resources. Those in developed countries are producing much more pollutants than those in less developed countries because in developed countries, they have access to more vehicles and more technology, which is producing large amounts of carbon dioxide. The carbon dioxide that people are producing is damaging the Earth and the animals on Earth. These pollutants are leading to greater threats in the future such as climate change. The larger the amount of fossil fuels burned, the larger amount of carbon dioxide emitted. The larger the amount of pollutants emitted, the higher the climate change. The higher the climate change, the higher risk of permanent damages to the world.

Great Movie To Watch
billywang-6645329 November 2022
This movie is great for educational purposes because it shows people what is going on in the world and what the biggest problem is that the world is facing right now. In fact, the major problems the world is facing is the problem of the exponential growth of the population. This problem is the greatest one. Most countries in the world are showing a steep rise in population figures. The world's resources are limited and so they cannot support a population beyond a certain limit. There has been news about the scarcity of food grains and the paucity of jobs mounting across the world. The number of human beings is multiplying at a steady rate. The world population has already crossed the six billion mark and it is expected to double in the next three or four decades. If the population continues to grow at this rate then the economy of the overpopulated countries will be unable to cope up with the growth of the population. Every attempt to bring peace, comfort and welfare to everybody's door will be thwarted and misery will become prominent if the population is not kept within proper limits. Except for a few countries, all countries are facing a population boom. Currently, the largest populated country in the world is China and India is the second-largest populated country. India represents 17% of the world's population. Other countries like Bangladesh, Japan, Indonesia and some countries of Europe are threatened to be burst into the seams by population explosion. The major cause of population growth is the decrease in death rate and rise in the life span of the average individual. Earlier, there was a balance between the birth and death rate due to limited medical facilities, people dying in wars, and other calamities. The rapid spread of education has made people health conscious. People have become aware of the basic causes of diseases and simple remedies for them. Illiteracy is another cause of an increase in population. Low literacy rate leads to traditional, superstitious, and ignorant people. Educated people are well aware of birth control methods. Family planning, welfare programs, and policies have not fetched the desired result. The increase in population is putting tremendous pressure on the limited infrastructure and negating the progress of any country. The superstitious people mainly from rural places think that having a male child would give them prosperity and so there is considerable pressure on the parents to produce children till a male child is born. This leads to population growth in underdeveloped countries like India, Bangladesh. Poverty is another main reason for this. Poor people believe that the more people in the family, the more will be the number of persons to earn bread. Hence it contributes to the increase in population. Continuous illegal migration of people from neighboring countries leads to a rise in the population density in the countries. Religion sentiment is another cause of the population explosion. Some orthodox communities believe that any mandate or statutory method of prohibition is sacrilegious. The growth of the population has a major impact on the living standards of people. Overpopulation across the world may create more demand for freshwater supply and this has become a major issue because Earth has only 3% of freshwater. The natural resources of Earth are getting depleted because of the exponential growth of the population. These resources cannot be replenished so easily. If there is no check on the growth of population then there will be a day in the next few years when these natural resources will run out completely. There is a huge impact on the climatic conditions because of the growth of the population. Human activities are responsible for changing global temperature.

Excellent

The world's population is on track to hit 8bn in 2023, and almost 10bn by 2050 - all of which means an increasing strain on resources, and more destruction of our natural environment.

Dont Panic

Warning: Spoilers
Don't Panic - The Truth about Population is a 2013 documentary about human overpopulation. The documentary combines a lecture by Hans Rosling, showing 3D infographics in front of him, with film sequences featuring interesting stories in different regions in the world. One film section is about a family planning worker in Bangladesh, where the life expectancy increased from less than 50 years in 1972 to over 70, while the number of children per woman declined from more than seven to less than 2.5 in average, and is still falling. Many people think population growth is out of control, some even talk about the population bomb. Most of the population growth in recent years has been in Asian countries, like in Bangladesh, where the population has tripled during Rosling's lifetime from 50 to more than 150 million. It's now one of the most densely populated countries in the world. Rosling says that "this number is representative worldwide, the reason why the total number of children globally is now at a stable level of 2 billions." According to him, the so-called population explosion has already been overcome, the human population will peak at eleven billions, and stabilize at this level by the end of the century. We face huge challenges in terms of food, resources and climate change but at the heart of Rosling's statistical message that the world of tomorrow is a much better place than we might imagine. Professor Rosling reveals that the global challenge of rapid population growth, the so-called population explosion, has already been overcome. In just 50 years the average number of children born per woman has plummeted from 5 to just 2.5 and is still falling fast. This means that in a few generations' time, world population growth will level off completely. In what Rosling calls his "Great British Ignorance Survey" he discovers that people's perceptions of the world often seem decades out of date. In Bangladesh, a country once famously described as a "basket-case" families of two children are now the norm. We meet Taslima Khan who travels through rural villages dispensing birth control pills and advice on how to deal with difficult husbands. Deep in rural Mozambique, one of the poorest countries in the world we meet farmers Andre and Olivia who've been saving for two years to buy a piece of life-transforming technology, a bicycle. Even in these countries, economic growth, investment in healthcare and infrastructure are paving the way to huge improvements in living standards. Globally, the proportion of people in extreme poverty is at its lowest ever, and now the United Nations is setting itself the goal of eradicating extreme poverty completely within the next 20 years. In conclusion there is no reason to panic. Yes the population will continue to grow but at a certain point it will even out and return to the starting point. Rosling predicts with statistics that the future shouldn't be feared but rather welcomed. US population stopped growing at around 325 million people in 2017 and flatlined out, it would produce at best a marginal change in global emissions. Plus, accomplishing that trend would require draconian anti-fertility policies and extremely strict immigration laws. On the other hand, even if US population rises over 500 million people, the impact on the world is barely noticeable. Meanwhile, lowering US carbon intensity by about a third, to around the level of manufacturing-superpower Germany today, has a bigger effect than preventing 100 million Americans from existing. Overpopulation is not the problem.

Overpopulation is a problem, panicking is allowed

Misleading. The fact that the birth rate is lower than in the 1960s is, in any case, remarkable because it is closely linked to a higher standard of living, reduced poverty, and lower mortality. The successful promotion of family planning, as illustrated in this film using Bangladesh as an example, is a blessing. There, activists not only went door-to-door distributing contraception, but family planning is also now taught in elementary schools! The documentary presents a positive vision for the future, suggesting that the global population will only continue to grow in Asian and African countries until 2100. While watching the documentary, one might get the impression that the world is progressing toward a better tomorrow, with the population explosion already under control, and reductions in poverty, mortality, and demographic growth. However, the documentary doesn't even mention the ecological footprint generated by every human being, regardless of their living standards. In reality, we have long surpassed the Earth's carrying capacity.
