Clint Mouriño kind of did it all with his film "10-13", as he wrote, directed and starred in this short. Wearing multiple hats isn't all that unusual with young filmmakers, as they often have to do this out of necessity.

"10-13" is an interesting and timely film. While there's been a lot of talk about police brutality in recent years, the average cop is a good cop and must struggle with lots of internal and external pressures. It's not an easy job and it takes an emotional toll not only on the officer but his or her family as well and this is the thrust of this picture. You see a policeman dealing with long hours, overnight shifts, a partner with his own serious issues, dangerous situations as well as his marriage. While on one hand it might help to unburden himself by talking to his spouse about his job, he also doesn't want to frighten her and he has a sort of macho idea about bearing all this silently. Of course this has a big impact on the marriage. Where all this leads, you'll just have to see for yourself. Just be forewarned, it's a film that sure packs an emotional wallop.

I really liked this film and it shows a lot of promise for Mouriño's future as a filmmaker. The story is tight and well told, the characters interesting and believable. About the only thing I didn't like was the use of an unsteady cam. It was shaky at times but also can easily be forgiven, as this sort of thing is to be expected with short films on shoestring budgets. Otherwise, the film looks really good and bodes well for his future. Well worth seeing.
