Independent filmmaker Patrick Rea has let Bloody Disgusting know this week that post-production is nearing completion for his next movie, a found footage-style LGBTQ vampire feature titled The Night Is Young.

The film tells the story of Nora (Sarah McGuire), an influencer, who along with her brother Jake (Jake Jackson) are filming her failed dates for a video blog. Through a turn of events, she ends up on a date with Emilia (Valeri Bates), a female vampire.
Soon they find themselves in the crosshairs of a group of murderous vampire hunters.
Rea tells us, “I think we’ve made a fun and original found-footage feature that we hope pleases fans of the sub-genre. We are planning for a festival premiere possibly in the late summer.”
Filming took place over several months in Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas City,...

Well, we’ve made it to another month, which means we have a bunch of new VOD releases to look forward to throughout February. If you are looking to escape the winter doldrums while keeping safe and snug on your couches, you have plenty of horror and sci-fi titles arriving digitally in the coming weeks to keep you busy and out of the brutal winter chill.

Celebrating its ninth consecutive edition, the Razor Reel Flanders Film Festival has revealed a full slate of high-caliber movies. True to its roots as a fantastic film festival while unafraid to cover some new ground, the Flemish fest still takes place in the historic city center of Bruges, in the Cinema Liberty; from 10th – 15th November.
Beginning the festivities on Thursday the 10th of November, Razor Reel looks to Belgium-born Johnny Galecki for inspiration by hosting the national premiere of The Master Cleanse. Following its opening film with another screening at midnight, Razor Reel presents the long-awaited Belgian premiere of The Devil’s Candy, Sean Byrne’s ode to heavy metal Satanism. Closing the festival in style on Tuesday the 15th of November is South-Korea’s zombie-outbreak horror Train to Busan, which has delighted audiences around the world since its Cannes 2016 premiere.

Horror Channel FrightFest (Aug 25-29) has unveiled the line-up of events and movies for its 2016 edition, set to be held at the Vue cinema in London’s Shepherds Bush.
Screen will host a panel on the future of the UK horror film industry, followed by the first Screen International Horror Rising Star Award [click here for the shortlist].
There will also be a horror writing master class with writer-director James Moran; a women in horror symposium; a special effects demo from maestro Dan Martin; and a discussion by filmmaker Paul Davis – who made John Landis approved doc Beware The Moon - marking the 35th anniversary of An American Werewolf In London.

Sean Brosnan’s revenge thriller My Father Die [pictured] receives its European premiere as the opening film, while the UK premiere of Sang-ho Yeon’s Cannes title Train To Busan closes this year’s festival.
