The beak of the ornamental bird fell off during the train-car scenes, so it was fastened in place using a shoe-string and paper clips.
The slight loss of focus along the edges of the frame during the train-car scenes occurred naturally because of high humidity and constant condensation on the camera lens. It was adopted later as a style, and the defocus vignette was added onto other scenes.
The shot with the train rushing by was not planned, it was decided on the spot when the train whistle sounded off in the distance.
