One of the few live-action shorts from Lee Hardcastle (though there is some integrated stop-motion), 'There's Something In The Attic (2014)' is a surprisingly effective film. It has a solid sense of atmosphere and a pacing that allows tension to build between its scares. What makes it so interesting is a subversive twist that I don't want to spoil here. It turns things on its head and, in a way, allows the piece to have its cake and eat it too. It's a great little reveal that's genuinely unexpected. 7/10.
