We saw this short film as part of the Horror-on-Sea festival. It starts off as a spooky haunting tale, with a backdrop story of some people passing in the lifts in the apartment block. A serviceman is asked to come and look into the fact that the heating seems erratic and the young couple start to tell him about odd events. Also the serviceman asks if they have a cat as he starts sneezing as he has allergies, but the couple say they do not. As they are showing him around we start to see a couple of old ladies and a cat appear that clearly the inhabitants can't see. The story does not go in the direction expected though and the old ladies think the new occupants are the ones that should not be there. It's a really charming ghost story

It took me a while to track this one down. The 2007 horror Rec brought me here - which Jaume Balaguero co-directed.
So, we follow a couple who start experiencing things that may or may not be supernatural in origin. What unfolds is a subtle ghost story. It isn't in your face the way most other ghost stories are. It's a perfect balance of suggestive horror and character studies.
This short has a lovely pace to it and not once did I look at my watch. The girl from Rec is so good in this, as is to be expected.
A well deserved 8/10
