A graveyard. He has come to put flowers on his mother's grave; she is there to mourn her young son. Both eye each other discreetly. He is captivated by her genuine emotion; she is bothered by his presence. All seems to keep them apart, yet he dares to proffer a handkerchief. Moments later, they are drowning their sorrows in the local cafe. He attempts to lift her spirits: on an impulse, he suggests that they go to the seaside.
