- Fiona Platt (42) has everything a woman dreams of: She is a successful Marketing-Executive in a big ad-agency "Keit und Company." She lives with her handsome, renown architect husband, Ben (42), their two beautiful, healthy daughters, Paulette (15) and Lina (8), and with her politically active mother, Gitta (63) in a luxurious villa in Munich.
Fiona's busy schedule doesn't allow her much family-quality-time. Paulette's puberty-moodswings are a pain in Fiona's neck. Frail Lina needs attention. Gitta's ideological Greenpeace-fanaticism is out of control. Luckily, Fiona's understanding husband compensates for the daily stress with his loving and caring attentiveness. Everything seems perfect ... thinks Fiona.
But then Fiona learns from her young, attractive, nine-months-pregnant rock-singer-neighbor, Julia (26), that Ben is the father of the child. The whole world comes apart for the always so controlled Marketing-Executive. To make the chaos perfect, Fiona's boss André von Keit (44) entrusts her with the responsibility to secure a new Multi-Million-Euro-Account that is pivotal for the agency: oil-company Tracon.
Fiona's first reaction to solving her marital matters is of course: Divorce. But after getting to know Julia a bit better, Fiona learns that Julia is pretty much on her own and alone. So pragmatic and rational Fiona comes up with a different idea: The "Happy-Family-Plan." In order to support Julia she wants her to move in with them until the Baby is a few months old, and then Ben also has the chance to be a father to all of his children. Julia is stunned, Ben, Gitta and the daughters are shocked. Fiona doesn't leave any room to argue. She is off to the airport to meet Tracon's big boss.
Dr. Hansen (50), the oil-company's big boss, disconcerts the already overwhelmed Fiona, telling her that he isn't interested in her agency-presentation, but instead has his own, charming, almost too flirtatious way to find out if he wants to invite "Keit and Company" to the five selected agencies to pitch for the account. Surprisingly Fiona impresses with her bold and blunt responses. Fascinated Hansen invites her and "Keit and Company" to the pitch.
Back in Munich, Fiona's "Happy-Family-Plan" seems to be a success too! But not the way Fiona has planned: Julia breathes fresh air, life, and fun into the family's routine. Contrary to Fiona's expectations, Gitta and the daughters really like her ... way too much for Fiona's taste. Finding the perfect solution for her family and Julia suddenly works against her. Jealousy stings Fiona's heart. Forced "Happy-Family-Trips" encounter total rejection. Gitta suggests that Fiona should reunite the family with more empathy and motherly presence. And then Ben, feeling hurt and humiliated by this plan, decides to move out.
Fiona's breakneck attempts to keep up with the cool and popular Julia end up in a hospital with a broken arm. But there, Fiona and Ben find a moment to reconnect. Fiona admits that her career-obsession might have encouraged Ben's infidelity.
The night before the pitch that will decide over Fiona and "Keit and Company's" future, Julia's waters breaks. Everybody in the house panics. Except Fiona. She keeps cool, and stays at Julia's side as she gives birth to her son, Oscar. The next morning a bleary-eyed Fiona pitches to Tracon, but inspired by the journey (or chaos) her family experienced, she adjusts the campaign. After a shocked André fires Fiona for her unprofessional presentation, Fiona decides to wipe the slate clean at home as well. She leaves the villa and moves in with her best friend, Michelle (42).
But Fiona's courageous, honest, open, and so human presentation turns out to be a huge success. Dr. Hansen is thrilled and "Keit and Company" secures the Tracon account! Now André von Keit begs Fiona to return to the agency. In that moment, Fiona receives a call from Paulette - an invitation to a family meeting that evening. When Fiona enters the house, it seems that no one is home. A note reads, "Sit!" and a handmade poster on the wall reads, "Happy-Family-Plan." One after the other Paulette, Lina, Ben, Gitta, and Julia with Oscar appear and ask Fiona to please come back. Fiona is deeply touched. The happy family is reunited - without a ma
