The game will mark the first time Disney+ has offered a live, non-animated sporting event.
The WNBA and Disney know exactly what kind of a ratings draw new Indiana Fever player Caitlin Clark will be. A total of 36 out of 40 Fever games will be played on nationally-available channels this season, and her May 14 debut is set to become a first in the history of the Disney+ streaming service. ESPN has announced that Clark’s first-ever game with the fever on May 14 will be available live on Disney+, and will also air on ESPN2 as well as ESPN+. Additionally, Tegna has announced that 11 more markets will join the footprint of Wthr, the Tegna-owned Indianapolis NBC station that carries Fever games in that area, ensuring that the maximum number of fans can see Clark’s first season.

A Palestinian citizen of Israel, Sayed Kashua is an award-winning writer, newspaper columnist and creator/showrunner of the hit Israeli TV series “Arab Labor” and “The Writer.” His work is known for testing the limits of a Palestinian-Israeli’s freedom of expression and displays a deep understanding of divided lives along with dark, ironic humor. His novel “Let It Be Morning” inspired Israeli helmer Eran Kolirin’s new film in Cannes’ Un Certain Regard.
Were you involved with the production of “Let It Be Morning?”
No. I just wrote a novel and they bought the rights for a movie. I watched an early cut of the movie and loved his [Kolirin’s] interpretation, though very different from the book. But he is a sensitive, great director.
You left in Israel in 2014. Where are you now and what are you working on?

Megan Thee Stallion infiltrates an evil organization in the new animated video for “Savage,” off of her recent Ep, Suga.
Directed by Jude Mc, the “Savage” video boasts a style that sits somewhere between anime and the retro aesthetic of older 3D video games. In the video, an animated Megan busts into a highly guarded facility producing what seems to be an army of evil robot dancers, and proceeds to take down the vast army of security officials guarding the place.

Beyoncé amps up Megan Thee Stallion’s recent hit “Savage” even more with a fun and flouncy remix. Their share of proceeds from the track will benefit their shared hometown of Houston through the organization Bread of Life.
The “Savage Remix” feels like it was always meant to be a duet between the pair, with Beyoncé offering up multiple verses as well as some vocal runs that seamlessly blend with the smooth beat. Monday’s episode of “The Bachelor Presents: Listen to Your Heart” dropped a bombshell (literally and figuratively) as 33-year-old pop singer Natascha of Los Angeles threatened to shake up the budding romance between Jamie and Trevor, who are quickly becoming the season’s unofficial star couple.
The first date card of the night went to Jamie, who whisked Trevor away to Venice Beach, Calif., joining forces to sing Little Big Town‘s “Girl Crush” which drew a few curious bystanders. During their date, Natascha introduced herself at the mansion, bringing a heavy dose of intimidation with her. Having been told “Trevor from ‘American Idol’” was part of the group, she proceeded to spill the tea that she is a friend of Trevor’s ex Sierra, who broke up with him a year and a half ago due to his alleged indiscretions.
When Jamie and Trevor returned to the mansion, it was time for the truth.

Cedrice, one of the favorites on “The Voice” Season 18, was dealt a huge blow during Monday’s final battle episode when her coach John Legend pit her against powerhouse singer Thunderstorm Artis. Both artists had a realistic shot of making it to the finale, so did Legend goof by pairing them up against each other, thereby risking losing one of them? Luckily for Cedrice, rival coach Blake Shelton used his steal on her after Legend eliminated her and kept Thunderstorm. Kelly Clarkson and Nick Jonas then congratulated Shelton on his decision in a rare show of unity from the competitive judges. Watch the haunting cover of “Stay” by Rihanna feat. Mikky Ekko above.

Hello again, dear readers. Right now, we’re living in unprecedented times, and it’s nice that, if nothing else, we still have entertainment to help us through all of this. Most of us are preparing for another month of self-isolation and thankfully we have a ton of horror and sci-fi titles hitting various VOD and Digital platforms throughout the month of April. Also, I decided to feature some special streaming events here as well, beyond the regular digital releases we usually get, as I thought it might be helpful to have as many distractions as we could possibly get over the next few weeks or so.

In a move that will shock and delight Tokusatsu fans, Japanese company Toei will be launching a global YouTube channel (excluding Japan) that will host 70 classic Tokusatsu series. Yes, you read that right, seventy shows. These shows will include classic seasons of Sentai (which later became Power Rangers in the Us), a slew of Metal Hero shows (three of which became Vr Troopers), several classic robot anime, and much more!
There’s a big catch to this news however. At launch on April 6th the first two episodes of all 70 shows will be uploaded to YouTube and they will all be subtitled. However, going forward the channel will only upload one or two episodes of one or two shows every day and these will not have subtitles. Toei’s website for this channel states that, “further episodes will be available in Japanese for now, but there could be frequent updates.

Will Cedrice be the next Chris Blue? He won ‘The Voice’ despite being last artist of blind auditions
Sometimes it pays to be last. Back in Season 12 of “The Voice,” the final artist to have a blind audition in front of the judges was Chris Blue. Blake Shelton, Adam Levine and Gwen Stefani had already filled their teams, with Alicia Keys being the only coach still with an open spot. The moment Alicia heard Chris’ soulful falsetto singing “The Tracks of My Tears,” she starting dancing in her chair. Alicia soon pushed her button, signaling the start of Chris’ journey on “The Voice,” which lasted all the way to the finale when he was named the winner. Why are bringing this up today? Because it may just happen again thanks to Cedrice.

During the final blind audition episode of “The Voice” Season 18, Blake, Kelly Clarkson and Nick Jonas had completed their teams, leaving John Legend as the last coach still looking for artists.

The third season of “The Masked Singer” introduced a new twist of separating its 18 contestants into three groups of six. Initially the groups performed for the audience and judges, with three being eliminated from each. Group A booted the likes of Lil Wayne (Robot), Drew Carey (Llama) and Chaka Khan (Miss Monster). This past week’s episode of “The Masked Singer” brought us the beginning of the competitors in Group C. We’ve already had one elimination from that group and now we need to think about which ones are most likely to keep advancing to make it into the Super 9. To see if we can make sense of where each contestant stands, we’ve ranked the remaining five celebrities in order of their chances of taking home the coveted Golden Mask. Do you think we have these in the right order? How would you rank them? Make sure to let us know in the comments section below.
This week’s elimination was, without a doubt, the craziest reveal that I’ve ever seen on this show. The pink and blue Bear was revealed to be none other than former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice-presidential nominee, Sarah Palin. Yeah, I’m still processing that one.

One look around the web will show you that just about everyone is catching Keanu Reeves Fever right now. It makes sense, too, as the guy has a number of box office hits and beloved movies under his belt.
He first broke onto the scene in the Bill & Ted films before becoming a bonafide Hollywood star thanks to Speed and The Matrix Trilogy. More recently, though, the John Wick series has won over audiences thanks to its stylish action and gorgeous cinematography. Throw in a scene-stealing role in this year’s Toy Story 4 and buzzy upcoming projects like Bill & Ted Face the Music and The Matrix 4, and it’s no wonder that Reeves is hotter than ever right now.

When it comes to hip-hop, the Recording Academy misses the mark so frequently that it’s become something of an annual tradition to be baffled by its choices. While there are perennial complaints about the Grammy nomination process, it’s in the rap categories that the Grammys truly shine. At this point, expecting anything less seems foolhardy. This year’s nominations continue the trend.
For decades, thanks (in part) to constrictive public narratives and major label shenanigans, hip-hop typically only allows for one or two women to succeed in rap at a time.

Spike Lee will direct a big-screen version of the hip-hop love story “Prince of Cats,” based on Ron Wimberly’s graphic novel.
Legendary has been developing the project with Janet and Kate Zucker of Zucker Productions. Lee, who won the Academy Award for adapted screenplay for “BlacKkKlansman,” will also re-write the “Prince of Cats” script with Wimberly and screenwriter Selwyn Seyfu Hinds.
“Prince of Cats” is told through characters in William Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” as seen through the eyes of Tybalt, Juliet’s cousin. Hercules, the Public Works’ stage adaptation of Disney’s so-so 1997 animated musical, improves on its source not so much on the strength of its characters or the charms of its leading man – though it accomplishes both those feats – but through sheer energy. This Hercules, with songs both old and new by Disney hitmakers Alan Menken and David Zippel and an occasionally clever new book by playwright Kristoffer Diaz, makes for a fine end-of-summer evening in Central Park’s Delacorte Theater, even if it doesn’t add much of great significance to the Disney canon.
Less innovative and enticing than Shaina Taub’s Twelfth Night – last year’s Public Works contribution to Free Shakespeare in the Park’s summer season – Hercules still succeeds where it counts: In the enthusiasm generated both by its lead cast of professionals and the 200-plus ensemble of amateurs (ages 5 to 80+) recruited from partnering community organizations from all five New York City boroughs.
With five new Menken/Zippel songs added to the film’s short-sheeted line-up of semi-memorable musical numbers, this Hercules goes a way – a small way, but a way – in fleshing out the thin, mid-level-Disney narrative of the ’97 film. The musical padding, if not contributing anything of spectacular worth to the Disney oeuvre, nonetheless contains at least one affable tune appropriate for a late summer evening – a sultry jazz number called “A Cool Day in Hell,” sung by Bart and his two impish minions with the laid-back nonchalance of a “Fever”-ish Peggy Lee.
Plotwise, Diaz’s new book adheres closely to the movie’s narrative, minus a few film characters and subplots (no Pegasus sidekick for Hercules). Via a gospel-music infused prologue – actually, the entire production is gospel-infused, a nice modern twist on the Greek chorus – the audience learns that the divine Zeus and Hera have had a son, Hercules, a looming threat to Hades’ evil schemes and, so, a target. The lord of the underworld sends his two comic minions – Pain (Nelson Chimilio) and Panic (the scene-stealing Jeff Hiller) to kidnap and poison the babe. In classic fairy tale style, the would-be killers bungle the job, succeeding only in making Hercules mortal.
The foundling is raised by a loving, and entirely human, mom and dad, but the boy’s demi-god nature grows more troublesome with each and every packed-on muscle. A routine trip to the market square inevitably turns into wreckage and disaster as the clumsy teenager, unaware of his own strength, invariably knocks over a Grecian column or two, upends food carts, and generally wreaks unintentional havoc.
Understanding he doesn’t belong in this human world – this Hercules spotlights themes of self-discovery and find-your-place journeys – the extra-strength, if otherwise standard-issue teen beseeches the gods for help, and gets an answer. In the deft, Diy approach favored by Public Works, two large masks – one for Zeus, one for Hera – boom out the revelation that Hercules was born a god, but made mortal, and in order to return to his rightful place on Mount Olympus will have to prove his heroism
Under the training of James Monroe Iglehart’s Philoctetes – Phil for short – Hercules sets out to do some monster-slaying, a mission soon accomplished (the colorful Chinese dragon-style foes are provided by puppet creator James Ortiz).
But the Hydra-killing antics do little to impress the townsfolk, whose true needs are more along the lines of affordable housing and income equality. Diaz’s Hercules – vibrantly staged by director and Public Works founder Lear deBessonet – asks, In a world such as this, what makes a true hero?
We’ll find out, of course, as Hercules becomes one with his human community, saves his true love Megara (Krysta Rodriguez) from the grasp of Hades, makes a final choice between divinity and humanity, concluding there’s not really much difference.
Yes, it’s predictable and pat, with broad-strokes messaging that serves the children’s theater vibe and community-embracing goals of the production. Diaz’s book includes its fair share of the pop-culture wisecracks and fourth-wall-breaking quips that have been Disney de rigueur at least since Robin Williams conjured his style-setting Genie in 1992’s Aladdin.
Iglehart, a Tony winner for his performance as the Genie in Broadway’s Aladdin, does a clever, contemporary spin on a Burgess Meredith-style athletic trainer. Bart, as usual, is a stand-out, but even he gets a run for his money from the devilish imp played by Hiller. As the anti-damsel in distress Meg, Rodriguez (NBC’s Smash) brings a leather-jacketed rock & roll defiance to the party, hitting few other notes.
A sequin-bedecked quintet of Muses serves as Greek chorus, lending full-throated gospel power and, here and there, girl group harmonies to the show, soaring above the colorfully costumed 200-plus amateur cast. Endearing even when not quite up to the fast-paced demands of Chase Brock’s tireless choreography, the stage newcomers add an appealing all-in-this-together enthusiasm familiar to anyone who saw last season’s superior Twelfth Night.
As good as so many of the supporting players are, though, Hercules belongs to its hero, so well played by Alladin. Buoyant and athletic, the actor (he originated the role of Kristoff in Broadway’s Frozen), has an aw-shucks quality that suits the teenage Herc, and, being a black actor, Alladin’s brief on-the-street take-down by a couple Centurions can’t help but project a contemporary relevance to the otherwise comic proceedings. It’s brief and passing, but there if you look.
Will the newish Hercules, complete with the film’s demi-known songs “Go The Distance,” “Zero To Hero,” “One Last Hope” and “A Star Is Born,” travel beyond this Central Park staging? No plans have been announced, or even hinted, and it’s difficult to imagine this sprawling, charmingly unpolished endeavor in a Broadway theater. Hercules has never been a Disney classic – likable enough, but minor. The new production doesn’t powerlift the tale beyond those limits.
Hercules’ limited engagement at the Delacorte Theater in New York’s Central Park ends Sept. 8.

Whether in social media captions, internet memes, or at the next brunch table over, you've likely been hearing a lot of people talking about having a "Hot Girl Summer." Like most big pop-culture trends, the term is being adopted in conversation and on Twitter feeds worldwide; even major brands have been getting in on the zeitgeist, and I have personally seen it hit my inbox in the subject lines of roughly 8,972 PR pitches (or so it feels). Like it or not, Hot Girl Summer has officially gone mainstream. And because I would hate for anyone to start throwing the phrase around without knowing where it originated, here's a super quick reminder.
"You definitely have to be a person who can be the life of the party and just a bad b*tch."

Don’t be fooled by the Nc-17 rating; Gene Graham’s “This One’s for the Ladies” may be an uncensored documentary about the male strippers of Newark — and the women who love them — but giant penises have never seemed more gentle or less explicit. Hell, most of the time they’re sheathed in those silly black hoods that exotic dancers have to wear for modesty, and they don’t look like dicks so much as headless church bishops who are hiding some big secrets. This isn’t a smutty movie, or one that’s driven by empty titillation. Made in response to the lack of black representation in the original “Magic Mike,” but endowed with a similar (if more pointed) sensitivity towards economic struggle and collective strength, Graham’s film is drawn to the dingiest rec center in New Jersey because there’s something beautiful about what happens there every Thursday night.

Updated with reaction. Mark Urman, a prominent figure in the independent film business who headed Paladin Film for the past decade, has died at age 66 after battling cancer.
Word of his passing circulated over the weekend, especially among the many film and media professionals who live (as did Urman) in Montclair, N.J. Urman’s family has so far declined to make a statement. We will update all this as more information comes in.
Early on, Urman worked in publicity for Columbia Pictures and United Artists before joining PR firm Dennis Davidson Associates in the 1980s, where he got some of his first tastes of championing specialty film titles. He spearheaded several publicity campaigns for Miramax and other indie outfits, and later told a few memorable tales about Bob and Harvey Weinstein in Peter Biskind’s 2004 book Down and Dirty Pictures.

Amsterdam — At 53, Alex Winter has worn many hats in the entertainment industry, moving from the stage to screen and then finally behind the camera, helming indie oddities such as “Freaked” in 1993 and “Fever” in 1999. Latterly, however, he has proven himself a capable hand with non-fiction, and he arrived at Idfa with his third feature-length doc “The Panama Papers”, following the film’s world premiere at The Hamptons Intl. Film Festival in October.
Shot on an almost as-it-happened basis by Winter and his team, the action starts in 2016, when a (still) anonymous whistle-blower codenamed “John Doe”, voiced in the film by Elijah Wood, contacted German daily newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung with a cache of information relating to financial irregularities involving Panamanian law firm Mossack Fonseca. From there, we see how Doe’s tip-off became a huge global scandal, as the Icij – the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists – began chasing down Doe’s leads,...

Wizkid, a champion of the Nigerian genre known as afrobeats, released a pair of new songs this week, “Master Groove” and “Fever,” to mark his country’s independence day.
Both songs add a lone, squeaky horn line to the usual lilting melodies that define afrobeats. In “Master Groove,” the beat is scintillating and minimal; “Fever” adds a cowbell and a steady, if muted, kickdrum. Wizkid sings flirtatious lines in tone so gentle it wouldn’t wake a sleeping baby.
