Warm, entertaining and enlightening.

This is the first documentary regarding Down Syndrome young adults in the USA that I am aware of. We have waited a very long time for this. I hope someone will wake up in the USA and deliver the same quality. Oprah thank you so much for taking the initiative and giving families of special needs children/adults this very special present. Although we have support groups, this documentary went beyond that. I have a teen with d/s and cherished every minute...laughing, crying and really appreciating the honesty, brilliance of those fine adults.

It has given me tremendous hope for my daughter's future. I learned from this and want more.

Lewis, Hilly, Sam, Lucy and Megan...I fell in love with all of you and want to say that you are more than Special in my book!

Please share season 2 with us!

The Specials is one very special show!

I rated this show a 10 because of the complete uniqueness of the show. The way that it is made, the subject of the show and how much involvement the main characters have in the making of the series ( shots, Voice-over etc. ) is very new and fresh in my opinion. I loved how they show that people with special needs go through all the same things people without special needs do. It proves more than less that we are more alike than different. I'm also the mother of a young special needs child and found this series gave me a lot of hope and awareness about some of the things my child, as a young adult , may go through. I for one seriously hope that the OWN network decides to pick it up full time. It is truly a great show!

Terrific

This show exposes the real world that we live in on a daily basis. It tears down the stigmas of "special needs" and will take the fear away for those who have not been exposed to someone with different abilities. It will show everyone that we ALL have the same need for love and relationships. Seeing some daily life of these 5 friends is exciting, heart breaking and down right hilarious. You get what you see and there is no scripting for this crew. Blatant and unfiltered. REAL. I hope this show will continue on and possibly get other shows like it. If you are looking to widen your horizons on other groups of people, tune into this show! It will bring your heart to a different level. Thank you OWN.

Like a Multivitamin for the Heart

This show was originally a web series, and the day I discovered it, I watched it from start to finish in one sitting. It may sound cliché, but it made me laugh, it made me cry, it made me feel like life's just so good. The five house-mates featured have learning disabilities that traditionally would keep them from living like typical young people. But through the support of family and caregivers they are able to live like they want to, and live like they mean it. So when their journey came to television with new content and a second season i was not going to miss it. Once again, I sat through the entire series, watching it start to finish, craving more! Most TV shows satisfy a desire for comedy, or for drama, or for romance, but this show provides it all. It's an emotionally complete TV experience, and I highly recommend watching it! *In one sitting, optional*
