S4: Mostly fresh and natural chemistry with the guests, fun vehicle selections and generally enjoyable stuff

At only 5 episodes this season is shorter than those before and, while you know what you're getting, it still works very well for the majority of the episodes. The formula remains the same in that Jerry Seinfeld drives some form of vehicle with another comedian, grabs coffee and a bite to eat while all the time chatting and joking around. In this season that is stretched a bit since the cars are not the classic lineup of previous seasons, and not all the guests are comedians (although most of them are).

The change to the cars is good; okay there is a bit less shiny metal to lust after, but the vehicles mostly fitting the stars even though they are harder to drive was a fun element. It has been done in earlier episodes but it felt like it was the norm here rather than the exception. The guests also buy into the sense of fun really well. Sarah Jessica Parker is probably the nicest surprise – like many, I do not care for her, but she was very warm, natural and funny here. Wallace, Klein, and Stewart are all good with typically sharp banter and lines. Only Ansari's episode is a bit weak – I am not a big fan of his anyway, which probably didn't help, but it was not particularly sharp and the episode felt like Seinfeld was doing all the heavy lifting – and his attempts to overreact to Ansari's one or two jokes didn't help. It was still an okay episode thanks to the novelty of the bus and the trucks, but the others were more enjoyable and fresh.

It does what it does and with short episodes and some reoccurring jokes (the product placement), it is nothing new on top of the existing episodes, but for me it remains fun when the choice of guests and vehicles work, and their chemistry with Seinfeld is good – which mostly it is in season 4.
