In editing the director cut the whole third act of the film and took out a key character from the script. Nicci thought that the presence of the another lead who was to be Jo's love interest took away the essence and meaning of the film that he was aiming for. He thought that having this other main character enter the film and save the day took away the gritty and raw style of film that he was aiming for. The open ending of the film was never written, it was born in the edit room but he felt that it really does capture the realism of the story, something that he always wanted to portray.
The main dancer with the blue hair in the strip club is Angela Nordeng, she also played Tina the babysitter.
The director Nicci Thompson and his assistant director Matt Hielsberg scouted nearly thirty gentleman's clubs in central and north Los Angeles before finally deciding on the Candy Cat Too.
Nicci held no rehearsals prior to shooting. He felt that giving the characters and material, he felt that meeting them on a weekly basis just to discuss their characters was the best choice. He also made the choice to have Shane Mesa who played "Jack" and Jessica Carlsen who played "Jo" to never meet or see each other until they were on a hot set and ready to film. He felt that this really added to the intensity of the scene.
