Alan's anger is totally misplaced
catalinaaperez8 November 2014
Walden has to get married for the adoption agency to give him a child. So marrying Alan is a simple business transaction. Walden knows it and Alan knows it. That is why it doesn't make sense when Alan is offended when Walden proposes a prenup (Prenuptial agreement).Alan has a way of taking advantage of situations that envolve money, a thing that both Alan and Walden know. So what can Alan expect?

The whole episode is about this, so it wasn't all that interesting. The dialogue come backs aren't that great. They are obvious and boring. But congrats on the show for making it last so long. 12 seasons and still playing.

Obvious Plot Hole Ruins this Depressing Story

The whole premise of this story line has an obvious plot hole. Walden could simply hire a woman to be the surrogate mother of his child. But that obvious solution to his problem does not even occur to any character on the show, including Walden's mother who clearly does not approve of Alan and understandably does not want her heterosexual son to marry another man out of convenience.

The premise is also depressing and pretty humorless. If Walden the romantic firmly believes everyone has a soulmate and nobody should settle for marrying anyone else, why is he settling for marrying Alan. This comes after an endless string of jokes about how he cannot get Alan out of his house.

The idea that a same-sex married couple does not necessarily have to be gay is an interesting one. But it does not work here at all.

Warning: Spoilers
Two and a Half Men labours on by this point, but actually the Alan/Walden adoption story did provide a bit more plot.

If you can accept the bawdy humour and Alan's complete personality change since the start of the show then you'll find a lot to like here.

It was one of the better latter episodes.
